@dfwskier That is secondary and a response to posts here offering "solutions". That said I'll reiterate, there should not be a loophole. All customers should be treated equally. There should not be two outcomes for the same problem where customer A receives benefit and customer B shook upside-down for loose change.
The main gripe is they didn't issue the voucher as promised so it could be used for a flight that I had. Somehow that is my fault or I should be more considerate of the internal turmoil at my financial expense.
Other gripe, is due to the period in time we're talking about, the pandemic, they should not be pocketing anyone's cash for services they did not provide. Especially considering they have already changed their policy to do away with expiration dates.

As a loyal SW RR and Visa member, I am in disbelief with the terrible partnership with booking.com. To the point I joined this community to try and find any solution.
Made a reservation via SW hotels to earn 10k points, was never sent a confirmation email with my number and PIN so can't get ahold of anyone at Booking.com/888-850-3958 (remember that number how many times I've tried it) to help me yet I have a pending charge on my SW Visa for $692. Hotel does have a reservation under my name and date but it wasn't even made from Booking.com.
What ever ended up happening to you? Did you get your reward points?
If your credit card is showing the charge is "pending" and has been that way for a while,
then you really do not yet have a real reservation. Merchants send "pending" charges to be sure that the payment method will really work. "Pending" charges only become "real" charges
once a reservation is consummated.
If the charge still shows up as "pending," it will simply disappear from your account in less than a week.

Sorry your disappointed your best option would be to send an email though the contact us link at the bottom of this page or write the old fashion snail mail and maybe someone else reviewing your case would be able to assist.

When you travel, you have to be aware of the bag's weight. The fact that you had an overweight bag means you pay the fee. It does not mean that you get credit for the other bag's difference between the actual weight and the limit.
There is nothing absurd about the policy.

When Southwest changes a flight you have the ability to make a no-cost (aka FREE) change to whatever other flight you want. Did you do this?

I too grabbed a lower fare to TPA in Dec for my mom. A few weeks ago the points were ~8,066, last week ~9515. Yesterday at the beginning of the sale they dropped to ~4866. This morning 6515.

Given the weakness of SW's IT department, and both would require re programming, I would not hold my breath for either.
They got rid of the expiration dates, so that’s a start!

For the reservation that was not made, you probably got hit with a pending charge, that would only turn into a real charge upon completion of a real purchase. When the follow up does not happen, the pending charge drops off your account - typically within a week.

I think you are missing the point. I get the guidelines but where are the forgiveness and compassion for our military families. On a normal flight without being military, would they have to have shown the cards? We were not aware of any of that process. The staff on the phone did not tell us your policy. How would we know? It wasn't us who applied the military discount on the ticket. We didn't want the discount. My point is that the process is outdated. The family needs to be aware of these practices. And to make matters worse, she found out they both had their cards. I can't believe you think this practice is working on the military favor.

Sorry to hear you had problems, but I can't imagine flying the same day as an important event with a hard deadline like a cruise ship departure. It would be kind of like flying to attend a wedding on the same day, I know if I cared about being there for the ceremony I would fly a day in advance.
Personally, I have an important business meeting on Thursday this week, could I fly on Thursday morning and get there? Yes. Am I? No. Why? because the meeting is important so I am traveling Wednesday afternoon to insure I am on time.
I do wish you safe travels in the future.

@dminarich clearly not Southwest Airlines if there was a cancelation fee. Perhaps Southwest Vacations or some other company unrelated to Southwest Airlines.

Your preferred phone number and e-mail address are tied to your Southwest account. They are grayed out on More Rewards because you cannot change them there. Log into your Southwest account on Southwest.com and go to "Profile" to change them.

Did he ask for help? Was he refused help?

I lost about $1,500 in expired travel funds during covid...I tried to write letters to ask if they could convert them to points so I wouldn't lose the money, and was told no. Any chance they would they would reinstate all that money I lost into points with their new policy now?

I agree - it says "three forms" of payment, so it is not unreasonable that someone would say okay I'm only using two forms, credit card and travel credits. Not realizing each travel credit counts separately.

Generally if a card has a chip, then a chip must be used. If the chip malfunctions or cannot be read, the credit card number can be manually entered, but the chip has to fail multiple times for this to become an option - at least 3 I believe.

I did not know that Southwest even accepted Paypal?
Oh they do, it's the main way I pay. I use PayPal for most things when I can and I have used it in this exact scenario to pay the taxes/fees for an otherwise free flight. I feel like it's an extra layer of protection vs entering your CC details directly on a site.
Anyway -- I would have checked my reservation immediately after booking (same day) and I would have started raising an alarm if I didn't see my reservation in my account.

Considering travel funds no longer expire starting today, I fail to see a need to ever convert travel funds to a voucher anymore.

This is the only annoying thing I have found with travel funds - when you rebook a flight more than once when the price goes down, each adjustment / credit is its own fund. IMO, if you're adjusting the same flight multiple times, it should all go towards the same fund / reservation number so you can use it all in one go.

Starting today Southwest credits no longer expire, so if you have travel funds / credits that are set to expire soon my advice is to use them to book any flight and then cancel them. Your travel credits will have no expiration date.
:edit:
Apparently any unexpired funds will also have no expiration. I swear the site did not say that earlier today!! But that makes life easier!
