Just to add on to what's said - once you arrive at the airport, print your boarding pass, and assuming you indicated a need for special assistance (wheelchair), you will see it pop up on your boarding pass. If you want someone to push the chair for your mom, you can go to the "Mobility Assistance Area" near the check-in counter, show them your boarding pass, and a wheelchair pusher will meet you and take you to the gate. If you would rather push the chair for your mom, you can do that, too.* You can also preboard.
*You're free to push the chair around the airport, but when it comes time to board your flight, a Southwest representative will have to push the wheelchair down the jetbridge for you (just out of caution since the jetbridge acts like a ramp).

Yeah, it's one way on Sunday. So I get full credit for today's flight.
So I can book my wife's last leg on Sunday morning and cancel the CP ticket once the first leg is completed.
Customer service confirmed this would be the way to do it.
They get $180 for me NOT completing a flight, since I have to pay for her to fly solo last minute. But I save almost as much or more skipping a flight tomorrow and possibly another flight in the future.
And time and gas money.

The processing on the SIDA can take a variable amount of time depending on background and how busy the badging office is. I would contact your Station Admin Coordinator before your start date to confirm whether the SIDA process is complete or your badge is ready. If it isn't, depending on the station, you might be able to keep your start date and just be escorted into the SIDA area. Contact your admin for details - they should have been the ones who reached out to you to schedule your SIDA appointment or sent you the application.

Hi,
I am currently employed with Southwest and I have a few questions:
1. What incentive does Southwest provide for their current employees to join 225?
2. Will I retain my Southwest seniority if I choose to become a pilot after completion of 225?
3. How many start days does 225 have in a calendar year?
Thank you,
justin

Apologies to hear about that experience! If the delay exceeds three hours, contact Customer Service (or keep an eye on your inbox) for a gesture of goodwill.

FWIW I had a friend whose bag was stolen from baggage claim at SeaTac. No way I would leave a bag. As others have pointed out, this is not an accommodation to expect from an airline. Plenty of hotels nearby.

Generally if a card has a chip, then a chip must be used. If the chip malfunctions or cannot be read, the credit card number can be manually entered, but the chip has to fail multiple times for this to become an option - at least 3 I believe.

Theoretically, you can book on Southwest.com up to 1 hour before your flight is scheduled to depart. Those aren’t when the prices are the best though.
If you know you’re going to fly out that day, I would book an Anytime fare today on the flight you have your eyes set on. The Anytime fare can be cancelled and refunded to your original method of payment up to 10 minutes before departure.
The good thing is, if you check the prices on Southwest.com every day, and you see a lower price than the one you paid for the Anytime fare, click Change Flight on your reservation and you’ll actually have the fare difference refunded to you between the price you paid and the new cheaper price. This refund can also go to your original method of payment. (unless you are paying using a Southwest Gift Card or travel credit)
So booking today allows you to secure your spot on the flight while also giving you the flexibility to cancel and get a full refund (only with Anytime and Business Select fares). You also don’t have to worry about paying extra since you can get the fare difference back if that price drops.

Unfortunately when I saw the position was available I applied right away. I only created the portal afterwards so I am unable to check the status of the application. Is there anyway that can be fixed so that I am able to keep track of it?

May be I was too vague in my original post , my trip is for pleasure in January, the week after this new ticket window opened up, to the Caribbean, for a Saturday to Saturday vacation.
For work purposes, I agree, the sweet spot is about 4 to 6 weeks out, but in this case I am going to bet the fares won't being dropping unless another "shutdown" happens.
Why? The hotels on this island are mostly booked up at this point and the rates have escalated based on the availability/occupancy for that week in January. All those folks are flying there.
BTW, for this particular itinerary as of this morning the Wanna Get Away and Plus fares are now gone and there only 3 Business Select Fares left on the outbound flight. Oh, and the point total for the roundtrip is 71,629.
Your mileage may vary
Safe travels

Check-in counters and baggage check can be done 2 hours prior to the first departure of the day. There may be a departure before yours so you have at least 2 hours before departure that you can check bags.
I believe the 4 hours referenced is the earliest possible time bags can be checked, but does not relate to when check-in counters open.

Southwest has changed to a new applicant tracking system. In the old system, once an application is withdrawn from consideration, the applicant is unable to re-apply to that position. I’m not sure how it works with Workday, but I would try to contact your recruiter if you’ve been assigned one or with a contact that you have at Southwest who may be able to get more information for you or direct you to the right person. If you inadvertently withdrew, I’m hoping that they let you re-apply. Best of luck and let us know how it goes!

Hi @CiarraMoore27! Hope you're having a great day! I've heard the log in method may have changed at some point. I currently go to Southwest Careers and click on the Candidate Home tab. From there I can log into workday and see my status, currently "In Process." Hope this helps. Good luck to you!

Oakland is a little closer to Berkeley (and you don't have to go through the SF traffic). Southwest has a larger operation in Oakland than in San Francisco; unfortunately, I don't believe there is a non-stop from Oakland to San Antonio, so you will have to connect. As far as flying United goes...good luck with that lol.

My only exception to this is the extra legroom exit row seats. Don’t be trying to save both of the other seats. Either aisle or window, plus a middle doesn’t bother me.

You don' t pay for pending charges. They do not show up on your monthly statement. If the airline does not follow up with a confirmation to your bank, the pending charge will simply vanish at some time in the future.

On vaccinations: At one point, it was required as Southwest is a federal contractor but it has now become part of a gray area. I believe it is requested that you provide documentation of vaccination when you apply for a position, but Southwest does provide accommodations for various exemptions to answer your question. Your recruiter might be able to inform you on how to request an accommodation through the hiring process.
Hope this helps!

There's not really anything special for the applicant when an employee refers someone. Applicants are reviewed the same as others, and the review process/turnaround for the CS&S position is quite lengthy because of the interest in the position. Stay patient, and don't forget to follow up - you got this!

The flight attendant might have been frustrated with an excessively long boarding time, but that's no excuse for a two-hour delay. Taking it from their perspective is also important. Sure, flight attendants work for the airline, but delays hit them as well and delay their schedules. It may not have been professional for them to blame the passengers, but delay situations are difficult for everyone, and it places stress on everyone (including the people who work at the airport). Flight attendants do not get paid during delays, and if a plane is sitting on the ground with the door open, they are not 'on the clock.'
Hopefully, this gives more insight into their perspective.

The server is supposed to assign boarding positions sequentially in the order of check-in. In an ideal world, it would assign them by who checked in first (by the smallest unit of time), but even if people hit check-in at the same time, bandwith issues (such as internet connection/range) could delay it by a millisecond. The server can also handle a certain number of requests at a time (and the server will order the requests by time), hence why you might see a loading icon for 1-2 seconds after clicking check-in.
Either way, if this were to happen it would probably be exactly 24 hours before departure. You can't check in earlier, and you have to know that whatever boarding position you get is the best boarding position that you could have gotten - there's nothing else you could have done to change it - at this point, it's out of your hands.
