You have to call for Infant/Child fares too. There are some others as well -- Government, Pet, Unacompanied Minor -- that require a call. The only special fares that I know of that can be booked online are Senior.

I am not seeing the value in the purchase of this feature as the last time I flew SW I got B-16 checking in without Early Bird. It appears from the web info I could find, if I paid $40 or $50 I would be assured an early A boarding position, but paying just $15 apparently is not sufficient. I am feeling very misled about this supposed convenience option. RR-xxxxxxxxx You may want to edit your post so that RR# isn't visible. That's not a great result, but I'm not sure it isn't atypical with A-list and other factors. Hopefully it would tend to be a little better. The question shouldn't be where did you land, but rather where would you have been without the EBCI - we can't answer that question unfortunately as we don't know if you would have checked in right at 24 hours, how many other passengers had this flight as a connection, and other reasons that it would vary from flight to flight.

The software will know that they are not you if the name was entered correctly. You'll need to correct the RR# for them in order to see the ticket in their own account or on the app.

@ggentry26, if you're looking to provide feedback about your experience as a customer (even a non-rev), I think you can use the contact info on southwest.com or direct message on Twitter (@SouthwestAir). I don't think Southwest would treat your feedback differently or with any less importance if you're non-rev. --TheMiddleSeat

Just be careful when checking bags (if using a self bag tag kiosk) that the first person only check themselves in. 😉

As @chgoflyer says, it takes some time for everything to load so don't freak out when flights initially appear to be sold out or unavailable, they just aren't loaded yet. You can start checking late the night before the scheduled date. This also applies to sales, you can sometimes catch great sale fares the evening before the sale is actually announced as they get loaded into the system overnight. --TheMiddleSeat Did this or any other comment in the thread answer your question? My flight was cancelled Monday morning and I have not been reimbursed my early bird payment. They weren't able to tell when I would be either. When I asked after they rebooked me at the airport why I moved from the A group to the C group I was just told I was rebooked. It wasn't my fault the flight was cancelled. I actually told them (southwest customer service) it had been cancelled. I know it was early but these ladies were rude about the whole process. When I had inquired if my bags would end up with me it was an up in the air reply.... I usually think Southwest is AWESOME in regards to customer service however not so much this time.

@Ukchic25 wrote: I booked 5 tickets but now one will not be going. Is it possible to get a refund for just one ticket? Refund, no (assuming you booked non-refundable Wanna Get Away fares). You can receive a Travel Funds credit for the one ticket. The funds will be valid for future travel for that same original passenger only, and that travel must be completed within one year of the date you originally purchased the ticket. You'll need to call to make that cancellation.

I will pay for the Early Bird. I checked several different airlines and flights, and unless I want a 7 hour layover, Southwest had the cheapest flight for where and when I want to go. However, paying extra for the Early Bird will add to that cheap fare. I've read several other posts and some people have complained that it didn't give them enough of an advantage as fae as getting the seat they wanted. That is not a concern for me, at least not now. I'm buying my ticket three months in advance. I do like the idea of being automatically checked in and then just picking up my boarding pass at the airport. I may not have any access to the internet during that 24 hour period before boarding the plane. The last time I flew, I recall having an assigned seat when I purchased the ticket, though it wasn't with Southwest. I'll try this and see how it works. Thanks for the reply.

I think you're asking if you can use the Fly By lane and utilize your PreCheck status? I have not seen that in airports I have traveled, the Fly By lanes always dump into the regular screening area, not PreCheck. The only way I have seen to skip the PreCheck ID check line is to sign up for Clear, but that is another service and another fee that you would need to pay. --TheMiddleSeat Did this or any other comment in the thread answer your question? @RonRN18 wrote: I have not used Southwest for finding car rental but thought about it due to getting Rapid Rewards points for an expense I already plan on paying. My problem is all of their partners are listing only weekly rates instead of daily and my trip is only 5 days; I'm being charged for 2 days I will not be needing the car. I can easily find cheaper rates from the same company elsewhere by paying daily instead of weekly, but it doesn't seem like the Southwest website is giving me the choice. That's normal that car rentals offer a "weekly" rate for trips that long even if you don't use it every day of seven day period. Try shortening your car rental request to compare the daily rates vs the weekly rate over five days and it may still look good.

My suggestion would be to book everything with your maiden name and worry about changing it afterwards. Then you won’t need to be concerned about the validity of a temporary license and convincing people you are you. Unfortunately, if you’ve already booked your flights you’ll need to call Southwest and have them change the name unless you booked refundable Anytime or Business Select fares. --TheMiddleSeat Did this or any other comment in the thread answer your question? Just got back from our cruise. It turned out that the flights both ways were not impacted by the cancellations. To answer your question, yes - I had called SW customer service which told me that a cancellation due to engine inspections could take place at the last minute. I also emailed customer service and never heard back. I am generally a fan of SW and have been a frequent flyer for many years. I can't recall ever having the need to try to get an answer to a question like this before - which is good of course. However, I must say that I am surprised at how difficult and frustruating it has been trying to get useful information from the company in this situation.

While it is generally more difficult to get more than 2 seats together when boarding in the C boarding group, it is still possible and depends on how full the flight is and how many passengers are continuing on from the previous flight. If you have a child 6 years of age or younger you can board during family boarding after the A group. Or, for an additional charge, you may be able to upgrade your boarding position into the A1-A15 group. You'll need to inquire about this at the gate. Hopefully you can sit together and enjoy your flight. --TheMiddleSeat Did this or any other comment in the thread answer your question? I agree with @DancingDavidE, you need to consider the cost/risk of checking it vs alternatives. If it's not in a box you'll need to get it boxed. Here are Southwest size and weight rules: Maximum weight is 50 pounds and maximum size is 62 inches (length + width + height) per check piece of luggage. Overweight items from 51 to 100 pounds and oversized items in excess of 62 inches but not more than 80 inches will be accepted for an overweight and oversize baggage fee of $75 per item I recently checked a popcorn machine, a small version of something like you would see at a movie theater without any problems. It was well packed in a box. --TheMiddleSeat Did this or any other comment in the thread answer your question? @Sleepypino wrote: What is the policy as far as changing flights due to death in the family? I had to change the date of my return flight a day later due to family death. I was charged the difference of cost of flights. Is there a chance to get refunded the money since it was a death in the family and I have the appropriate documentation? Sorry to hear that @Sleepypino You'd have to call and ask for an exception, the current policy doesn't include any bereavement or emergency fares. I don't know if they might offer on a case-by-case basis although it is probably incrementally harder to get a refund if you already rebooked. https://www.southwest.com/html/customer-service/bereavement/

I'm not seeing any other reports of this being a widespread issue. (Not since the systems problem discussed earlier.) 1) Did you book or make a change less than 36 hours out? 2) Does you BP say "A-LIst" on it? 3) If not, contact Southwest to check that your status is attached to all future flights, as it may have been dropped from this one ("glitch"). Good luck.

Most flights now have EBCI passengers that stretch at least into the high As, and often low Bs. "I bought EBCI but received a B-XX position" is becoming a common complaint. Southwest earned nearly $400 million on EBCI fees alone in 2017.

And: Travel funds may be reissued (as a voucher) for a fee. That policy does not apply to vouchers. Customer Relations may reissue a voucher, depending on why and when it was issued, and there is no fee but this is rare. In general, vouchers cannot be reissued.

While I don't know of any official policies, my guess is Southwest (and other airlines) are more likely to reopen doors or make exceptions when they are trying to accommodate passengers that were delayed/late because of something the airline was responsible for. My guess is the other late passenger was making a connection and the incoming flight was late, perhaps due to a mechanical or crew issue on the first flight. I'm surprised you weren't also allowed to board, but could be an unfortunate case of bad timing, having just walked away. If you were standing right there at the exact moment they might have let you on. Or, you had already been considered a no-show and your seat was given to a standby passenger while the other passenger hadn't been marked no-show yet because they were connecting. Hard to say exactly what happened, but there are some possible, reasonable explanations for it. --TheMiddleSeat Did this or any other comment in the thread answer your question?
