My suggestion is to always follow the original flight schedule unless the flight is cancelled or you rebook.
Since you were notified of the delayed flight, I am assuming that you have the Southwest APP and I'd encourage you to look at the APP and follow the flight schedule. Additionally, you should reasonably expect that the flight might not be delayed as far as it was originally thought.
This is a no-win situation for Southwest. Your suggestion is that once the flight is delayed under no circumstances whatsoever will the flight departure EVER be moved up would dismay others who are sitting there waiting.
My suggestion is to follow the advice above.

You will earn whatever points are given for a purchase on your Southwest card. Southwest credit cards have 2x points for non-Southwest travel purchases.
Additional hotel bonus points are only earned if you book through the Hotels link on southwest.com. That transaction is handled by booking.com

You might try to see if you have a VPN connected. I had this happen and shut my VPN off and then I was able to go back to the app and add my boarding pass to my wallet. Make sure the VPN does not auto connect back on you when you toggle it off. My VPN tends to cause errors with some apps and sites.

The hotel redemptions worked very good for me. Also depends where you are going. I used over 30 hotel redemption nights in the past few years in the Philippines starting at 5k SW points. But I won't use it for popular destinations like Hawaii, San Diego, NY, etc.

New information on this thread going forward: now there is Wanna Get Away Plus fare option, where people traveling for business if they don't end up flying the travel funds can be re-assigned (one time!) to someone else at the company.

Hello!
We are coming back to the US from our honeymoon in Punta Cana and checked bags. However, it is not a direct flight and we have a short layover before we reach our final destination. We are extremely confused, as some sites are saying that we will have to go through customs, claim our baggage, then recheck our bags, and go back through security again to do this! We won’t be able to make our connection flight if this is the case! Will they be transferred to our final destination? We are freaking out, as no customer service is available online at the moment and we can’t take calls in another country!
The flight from BWI to STL will have domestic passengers, so obviously you have to go through customs first before you can mingle with the rest of the airport passengers.
BWI has a modern international terminal so most likely you'll have an opportunity to clear customs and drop you luggage on a dedicated check-in station and you may not have to go through security again, or if you do it won't literally be back to the front door for you there will be a dedicated facility to get you back into the airport.
Unfortunately the pre-clearance facility still isn't operational at Punta Cana so you won't have that option to go through the process before departure.

Hi everyone! I need to work on a laptop during an upcoming flight. The extra wrinkle is Im a bit chubby so I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what seats and tray tables (down from the seat ahead of you vs the ones that live in the armrest) would be best in this scenario.
Thanks much and happy thanksgiving if youre celebrating!
100% look for the exit row, and not just any exit row but you can see the markings on the floor for the space that must be kept clear and you are looking for the one that's wider than the other ones.
The infinite legroom seat I believe does have a tray table in the armrest but I'm not sure if it is big-boy sized, the bulkhead rows up front do not have tray tables - so if you need room plus a tray table, then I'd say exit row with the extra space as marked on the floor. If you don't need the tray table, then the bulkhead (front) row would be roomy.
I'm in this situation myself and my main thought is that I don't want to use my laptop on flights if possible until I drop a few, I'm focusing on using my IPad or catching up on reading on my kindle.
Next best idea is that if you grab the row behind the exit row at least you know the person won't be reclining into you, that's also helpful for a tight space.

Sounds like a poor experience with booking.com who handles the hotels for Southwest. I second the suggestion to go through your credit card company to protest the charge. That's usually a very easy way to get these things handled.

Just to add on to what's said - once you arrive at the airport, print your boarding pass, and assuming you indicated a need for special assistance (wheelchair), you will see it pop up on your boarding pass. If you want someone to push the chair for your mom, you can go to the "Mobility Assistance Area" near the check-in counter, show them your boarding pass, and a wheelchair pusher will meet you and take you to the gate. If you would rather push the chair for your mom, you can do that, too.* You can also preboard.
*You're free to push the chair around the airport, but when it comes time to board your flight, a Southwest representative will have to push the wheelchair down the jetbridge for you (just out of caution since the jetbridge acts like a ramp).

A personal item is something that is supposed to fit underneath the seat in front of you, that's where the dimensions come from. A standard laptop bag should be fine and the dimensions you listed do not appear to be out of line.

I have to recommend that when traveling during the Holiday season, as it is called, allow extra time for your airport experience.
Two hours from airport arrival to flight departure works in most cases, but consider that there is a 1/2 hour before the flight departs where boarding begins. Now, you are down to 90 minutes.
Consider the 1/2 hour that you might spend at baggage check in, the 1/2 hour to get through TSA, the 1/4 hour that you spend from the TSA area to travel to the gates via the train at MCO and you have just 15 minutes to spare. Anything that goes wrong deducts from your margin until you have missed the flight.
While I do regret hearing your story, I would not even attempt to travel through MCO this time of year with a two hour window. Sorry for the experience.

Native New Englander here. It is often chilly in the spring (40s in southern New England, 30s in the north). It will snow during the month of March but the snow will melt fairly quickly. What are you looking to do?

Save yourself the hassle and book the flight and hotel separately. I have seen far too many people get burned by Southwest Vacations and would NEVER recommend them to anyone. Southwest Vacations is not Southwest Airlines and their customer service is horrible. Book your flight with Southwest Airlines and find a hotel you like and book direct with them.

SWA737-200 to -800, Top of arm rest maybe 18.5". But the important part is bumper to bumper measurement at the lower part of the seat. That maybe reducing the width to 17.5". As a Mechanic that made step stools 15" wide to fit between the seats to work the bins & ceiling area. For the most part Rows 3- aft entry the step stool fits just fine. But rows 1-2 where the plane narrows the stool needs to be carried over those seats. https://www.highskyflying.com/how-wide-are-airplane-aisles/
20/More Seat Passenger Airplanes
[Big airliners like the ‘Boeings’ and ‘Airbuses’ are found within this category of airplanes. The FAA Seat and Aisle Regulations require that the aisle width of these airplanes must be 15 inches from the floor to a height of 25 inches and 20 inches above a 25-inch height.
Therefore, it is safe to say that the aisle width of the last Boeing or Airbus flight that you took was between 15 to 20 or more inches.]
Note: B707, 727, 737 all have the same BS 480 to nose section reduction in width and from BS 480 on back width. BS 480 is the split in the seat track to where it goes narrow.

I had a bad experience booking with Southwest Vacations and ended up getting about $450 back as compensation.
Make no mistake, this company is not Southwest but I wrote to Southwest's CEO several times and finally got results.
Never will I book with them again, even if they pay me for the vacation. You can do better booking things on your own.
