We've discussed preboarding so many times I'm surprised that there isn't a category of its own.
Under Federal law, The Air Carrier Access Act, if you self-identify as a person with a disability you preboard. That's the law. In fact, you can do acrobatics all the way to the gate, self-identify as an individual with a disability, preboard, then withdraw your claim. Since the claim does not renew for each subsequent flight, it must expire somewhere but the law is unclear.
Anyone who challenges your "disability" is leaving themselves open for legal action. That includes other passengers who harass or otherwise attempt to shame those who self-identify with a disability.
I would be in favor of an ID card or placard similar to parking in handicap zones if the law eventually goes there. However, that is not likely to happen anytime soon.
This is a unique situation with Southwest. Other airlines have assigned seating and you can preboard to your assigned seat. On Southwest, you preboard AND get the best choice of seats. That's a perfect storm. However, it is not the fault of those that preboard.

@TheMiddleSeat you may be right. Frustrated though because it’s not just about advertising- it’s the partnership where points are offered, etc. If SWA chooses to so closely align with this group. they need to be accountable for how they treat their customers who are purchasing based on their trust in SWA.
I disagree, I don't see it as an endorsement, but rather the best financial agreement for Southwest. Points are offered for lots of things, including eating at my local Jack in the Box, and I don't see any responsibility on Southwest to ensure I have a good meal.
At least we agree booking.com is not a good place to book hotels.

@iiflyswa hmm, that is strange. My experience is the annual fee posts on the first statement after the actual anniversary date so in your case that would put your anniversary date sometime in September, which makes your experiences the timing of your credits even more odd. I'm glad you were able to get multiple credits!

I've called in to SW a couple times with this error and they say the only option is to go to the counter at the airport which is a waste of time since I do not check bags. Do you remember what the person from SW support did on the phone?
Earlier in the thread a poster said that he/she simply added the KTN to the traveler profile, and then reprinted the boarding pass which then showed the words "TSA Pre."

It is laughable to say an acceptable solution is to transfer points to another Rapid Rewards member when that so-called solution (transfer) costs one cent per point. That means a 25,000 point transfer would cost $250. Southwest currently says 25,000 points have a value of $300 (83 points per dollar). This means that if you transfer 25,000 points to someone else, it will cost you $250 to give them $300. That's not what I call LUV from an airline that is struggling to survive a recent self inflicted nuclear disaster.
Of course the solution does not involve transferring points.
The person with the points can simply buy the ticket for the other person - thus retaining full value of the points.

My son was just boarding his delayed flight from Dallas, TX to to return to his Navy air station in San Diego. Him and another service member neither in uniform, went to board when military was called after priority boarding. The service member in front of him clearly white, showed his military ID and ticket was scanned and he was allowed to board. My son right behind him , who is half white half Hispanic has dark hair showed his military ID and the attendant told him he could not board and needed to return to B 42 position to wait to board. I have never heard of such utter disrespect for our service members , but also the utter display of prejudice that occurred . I am appalled at the gate attendants hatred and disrespect. attendant was at Gate 2 Dallas Lovefield airport Dallas to San Diego departure at 10:25 (delayed) originally supposed to depart at 10:05 12/29/22. I want answers!!!

You’re unbelievable. I have a companion, so I can’t get the online booking to work. Worse, their next flight that is available basically makes my entire trip pointless. This isn’t a 1 day delay, the app says they don’t have a flight till Thursday night with an open seat and that isn’t even assured. I haven’t had a vacation in a year and not only have they ruined the scheduled vacation I planned for 3 months (can’t cancel it), I lose the days, and worse, they ruined my Christmas, because by the time I get there, the other half of the family will have gone home.
I was on hold for 3 hours and 14 minutes when I heard what sounded like the VOIP server crashing and the call drop.

This is all around incompetence and the CEO should be fired Monday morning.
I was a huge fan of SWA. No more, I will never recommend them again, I will never be loyal to them again.

Involuntary bump can happen to anyone, it does not limit to companions. I've enjoyed many free flights from my companion pass and no other airline provides such a beneficial perk. It appears you obtained the companion pass via a promotional offer on credit card sign up. The standard expiration is the remainder of the year you earned it in AND the entire next calendar year. That's a pretty sweet deal. You're welcome to do what you want, I just don't agree with the thinking.

I have a trip coming up in January and I have already cancelled and rebooked the same rental car now six times (free cancellation and no money paid to reserve) and the price for the week went from $497 to $367 now.
Once you use points, I'm not sure if you are getting a good deal. I'm already saving $130 on the rental car by simply watching the prices.
I use points to fly only, not for anything else.

Edit: Also, in general if you ask, people are often willing to move forward or back a row to let you sit near each other as things fill up. Though it's not likely someone will move from an aisle/window to a middle seat unless it is for a special reason (like your flight companion is a child).
Children and newlyweds for me.
You co-workers out there can just catch up when you land instead, or use the free messaging.

The hotel redemptions worked very good for me. Also depends where you are going. I used over 30 hotel redemption nights in the past few years in the Philippines starting at 5k SW points. But I won't use it for popular destinations like Hawaii, San Diego, NY, etc.

Sorry about your experience. But I think that's an anomaly. And it seems reactionary to take your business elsewhere after a single incident. Keep in mind that you could experience a rude gate agent with any carrier.

Companion Pass qualifying points are a subset of your total Rapid Rewards points. The CP point count resets every January 1. Your total RR points just keeps growing until you redeem them.

It is their call. Keep in mind that these inconsistencies happen because all flights are different, and there's certainly information you or I don't and will likely never know. Crew time outs, connections down stream, etc. I totally understand that it's hard not to take these things personally, and it's never fun when you're on the receiving end, but ultimately if your husband had been at the gate before t-10 he would have been able to board.

You were absolutely correct about adding the RR number. I had to change a reservation, added the RR number, and everything showed up.
It's my recollection that previously if you were booking with points and filled in the box with your RR number, the system made you remove it before you could move on. In any event, thank you for solving the problem for me. Now, why didn't any of the Southwest people give me the answer years ago?

Thanks - and sorry, this wasn't intended to be a hijack. I was looking for a conversation about LUV Vouchers and whether they would become flight credits, and just needing more details about how that exchange plays out in the long run. My initial thinking was it is an entirely good thing to do something to create that conversion, but it appears that this isn't always to your advantage if you want to use your funds to pay for others' tickets.
Again, my apologies.
