It's not really about people canceling, it's assignment of a boarding position and allowing check-in to start at 24 hours before flight allows boarding positions to be assigned in a controlled manner. You could always purchase EarlyBird Check-in and not have to worry about it. Or, if you don't care about boarding position, you could skip checking in online and just go to the airport baggage/check-in counter before your flight.

Well, if you change your name or get a fake ID.... (just kidding! Don't do either of those.) Assuming you purchased a Wanna Get Away fare there's not much you can do. The ticket can be canceled, but only your friend can use the credit. They have a year from the date you purchased the original ticket to complete travel with the credit. If you purchased an Anytime or Business Select fare you can get a refund when you cancel.

Yes. Here's an answer from the pet FAQ: Customers will be permitted to travel with no more than one (1) pet carrier per person. Each pet carrier can have no more than two (2) of the same species of small cats or dogs per pet carrier. You should read the complete policy for other restrictions https://www.southwest.com/pets/

I definitely recommend checking as much baggage as possible and you can use a stroller until you get to the plane door, you can gate check it there. Hopefully using the family boarding will reduce some of the stress and you won't feel rushed. Have a good trip!

Since Southwest doesn't fly to Canada, yet (fingers crossed), this probably isn't the best place to asking about traveling to Canada. I'd suggest you start here: https://www.cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/canada-mexico-travel Have a good trip

Not true, you can utilize family boarding. Just listen for the gate agent to announce it after the A group boards. Where did you see that you wouldn't qualify?

Points earned through a RR credit card are posted monthly to your RR account so you can book travel with those points through the Southwest website. My understanding of the BofA card is you pay for travel with the card and then you can select to get a credit with the points you have. If you don't have enough points in your RR account to cover the entire purchase, book what you can with RR points and then purchase the remaining portion of the trip with your BofA card, and then file for reimbursement. You'll need to inquire with BofA for more details about how that card works. There's no way to combine the two buckets of points.

@rdonley This was in the news back in May: “We’re deciding what our plans are for 2018 and Hawaii is important to us.” – Gary Kelly, SWA CEO. Southwest's new long range aircraft will be joining the fleet in October so that's a big part of the equation.

Stay on the phone, that's the best way to work on it. You'll need to verify the KTN is correct AND make sure the name associated with your RR account matches the name on your Known Traveler account exactly (including middle name).

Your luggage tag means nothing to Southwest, they only care about the paper tag/sticker they put on when you check in your bag. That's the one that indicates where your bag is going and whose reservation it's associated with. If your package includes some sort of baggage transfer by Disney upon arrival that could cause a problem, but you'll need to ask Disney about that.

Also, not all points count towards CP. In general, "bonus points", typically earned from shopping, do not qualify for CP. You could also have a difference the other way, having more CP points than actual points if you redeemed some points so it's not uncommon for those two numbers to not match.

Sounds like you purchased a flight using one of the two vouchers and paid the remaining balance in cash? Was it a Wanna Get Away fare/ticket? If that's the case, yes you could cancel the ticket you purchased BUT the amount you paid (including the cash amount) would be returned to you in one Travel Fund expiring when the voucher was scheduled to expire. You would then have a Travel Fund for the whole amount of your trip AND the second voucher so you wouldn't achieve what you want to do, assuming that is to use both vouchers and not spend your cash. At this point I don't see how you could use both vouchers and get your cash back. However, if you bought an Anytime or Business Select fare you could get the cash portion back if you canceled and then you could rebook.

Several factors go into whether or not any exit row seats will be available so there's no guarantee, but your best bet is to either purchase Business Select tickets or pay the $30-$40 per person at the gate to upgrade your boarding position. You're much more likely to be successful on first flight of the day when plane is starting the day at your location (no passengers traveling through your location).

The following policy seems to indicate the child must be traveling, but I can't imagine Southwest questioning if the child is actually traveling and then refusing a car seat. They've always been pretty much "no questions asked." Policy from https://www.southwest.com/html/customer-service/baggage/carryon-bags-pol.html Customers traveling with children will be allowed to check one stroller and one Child Restraint System (CRS) or car seat per child without charge. This is in addition to the regular free baggage allowance. The stroller and CRS or car seat allowance applies to any type of stroller (umbrella, full size, jogging stroller, etc.) and CRS or car seat. The Customer may check the stroller and CRS or car seat at the curb, ticket counter, or gate. Southwest Airlines will not assume liability for damage to strollers, CRSs or car seats. (An optional Southwest-branded reusable car seat/stroller bag is available for purchase at any Southwest Airlines ticket counter for a $15 one time fee.)
