Yeah if the order went through you should be good but sometimes it takes a while to see the points posted on your account. I usually wait a couple weeks then emaill or call them to make sure and usually the points are there

@SandySarge wrote: So you’ve reached a Companion status and boy are you (and your lucky Companion) thrilled!! You book your first adventure together and are all ready to go. You jump right online 23:59 hours ahead to checkin and it all starts to unravel. You get A-22 (whoop) but your pal gets C-48. Yikes, now you have to be that jerk who saves that seat on the exit row or the one who never quite makes eye contact. You hope it works but ya never know. not the best way to start a new level after it takes so long to get to Companion. So - here’s my idea - have Companion tickets on the same reservation (not a separate one), and have them board together. We’ve earned that coveted level and we want to have our Companion feel as special as we do. After all, most of them are stuck at home while we are always off flying. Just a thought It's pretty unlikely that checking in right at t-24 would generate a C-48 boarding position. 😉 But your point is valid, and has been raised before. Southwest had tested a procedure that would allow Companions to board with the Companion Pass holder, but it hasn't been officially accepted as policy. Hopefully, some day.

Wow super helpful! Yeah ah I definitely use this perk a lot because my schedule is so variable or if my the last flight of out LGA is delayed as it often the case and I can take an earlier one that lands at the time I was supposed to. I have been stranded in Las Vegas because I didn’t check the connecting flight so definitely recommend that!

@jamesp wrote: Getting a name changed on a ticket is a terrible experience. Agreed, although I think it is meant to be a difficult process. @jamesp wrote: Getting a name changed on a ticket is a terrible experience. I travel every other week on Southwest and for the first time had a work flight accidentally booked using my Middle Name instead of First Name. After contacting Southwest twice I discovered that I cannot change the first name and have to cancel and repay for my ticket even though the ticket is clearly connected to my identify by DOB. My challenge is my ticket purchase being handled by another company. I fly enough that I have TSA Precheck and earned a companion pass. Given I can't change the name, the ticket is now useless as I cannot use my ID or TSA Precheck with it and also can't enable my wife to travel with me using Companion Pass. If I book and pay for a new flight on my own it's now cheaper to just fly American. Looks like that will be my path unfortunately but might start flying with American more often. I don't understand why the other company that made the booking can't fix it? It should be their responsibility to track it down through all of the painful steps. Are you certain that there isn't any way for you to show your ID with middle name and fly? Obviously you would forgo the TSA PreCheck as you mentioned, and ability to add companion pass. Even the travel funds would be worthless until they expired, then maybe it would make sense to convert them to a voucher. I don't know that this process would be any easier with tickets from any other carrier. If it was noticed within the 24-hour window then it could have been canceled no questionsd asked, and then rebooked. Anyway - I'd try Southwest again, I'm sure they get people booked by middle names all the time (people that go by their middle name especially) and see what another rep can do for you. It might be worth trying again to get a second opinion. Call the A-list number too so they know you are a frequent customer off the bat. @Maybe try Twitter as well, @SouthwestAir - don't send any identying information until they ask for a direct message.

@Allen913 wrote: Well I signed up and just was told I made my qualifying reservation 6 days before signing up for the promotion so no A-status for me. Thats life but will probably fly other airlines more often now as assigned seats are little less cumbersome during travel.than paying money to upgrade positions in line. Well Allen, the rules are pretty clear, you must sign up for the deal AND THEN book any fly between two dates. If you are still between the dates, you could still book and fly -- as long as that is within the calendar period. If not, sorry that you missed out on A-List. Maybe you'll be offered another deal in the future. Just be sure you understand the deal.

The only thing I could think of as equivalent to drink coupons would be wifi or special code for the Southwest/Lyft integration for a few dollars off. (The drinks cost $8, but don't cost Southwest $8...so to offer some other benefit has to account for the margin - i.e. the Lyft benefit could be $2 or wifi benefit $2 but not $8 value.)

Sorry you might not get enough points to achienve CP, but Southwest is very transparent in the process. It says points that post to your account in 2018 will count towards a CP you earn in 2018. It is your responsibility to know when points post. You've had all this year to know that Chase points post when your statement closes and not when you pay your bill. Depending on how many points you need to earn CP this year, it might make sense to make one last trip before year end. A $600 business select ticket will earn you a bit more then 6000 points. Only you can determine how much CP is worth versus how much you might have to spend to earn it. Also, Chase does give you 12 months of earning capability with it's card -- for the 12 months that had statement closing from 1/2018 thru 12/2018

@crimsongirl wrote: I have a daughter graduating from the Air Force. Her estimated graduation is a certain date, if by some chance she fails a part of her training that date would change. Would it still be okay to choose the Wanna get away ticket? Yes, the WGA fare can be changed or cancelled without a change fee. If you cancel the flight you'll be issued what is called "travel funds" that are saved in your account - you need to write down the confirmation number to retrieve these funds. Then you can use the travel funds to fly within one year of the original date of purchase. No change fee to change the dates as well - the flight still needs to take place within a year of the original purchase. You also have to pay the current price of the tickets which may be higher (or lower) than when you originally booked. In particular if you will fly Southwest a few times per year, the WGA option is low risk since you could re-use those travel funds for a different trip and then rebook the trip (to Colorado?) fresh when you know the new dates.

That’s too bad, the process is well setup not to make the purchases over $1,000 - ironically we hear about so many people that want the bonus to come faster trying to beat the deadline. let us know how it goes. I hope it can be resolved.

The current boarding policy allows A) Customers to avoid having to be present at the airport early in order to gain a good position, and (most importantly) B) Southwest to monetize the boarding process. 😉

I’m in the same position but my hotel stay is on the 22nd. From other travel blogger sites I’ve read they seem to think southwest hotels post within a few days. The shopping portal says 6-8 weeks for posting which makes more sense that they wouldn’t post immediately. Good luck! I know it’s frustrating-I am so close and will be very disappointed if my 10,000 hotel points don’t post until after December 31st 🤞

As @CareforNOLA said, you have to pay atention to when points will actually hit your account. The most predictable is flight related points. $1000 in business select fares earns you 12,000 points, and they hit your account almost instantly. Rent car points hit your account pretty promptly, but not always in the correct amount. Dining points are more variable. Hotel points are more hit and miss - especially those with big point totals. Never used the shopping function, so I can't speak to those.

@elijahbrantley, @TheMiddleSeat similar situation for Military fares. Essentially a discounted Anytime fare, but WGA is typically the cheapest option!

If you redeem points for a flight your overall point balance will decrease, BUT the count of points earned towards Companion Pass does not decrease. That count only decreases if you return purchases and resets to zero on January 1. --TheMiddleSeat

You can also use sealed, frozen ice packs, the kind you would take camping. Just be mindful of the overall cooler weight, gotta be under 50lbs. I've packed meat and ice packs in a suitcase and had no problems, albeit on a fairly short flight with cooler weather. --TheMiddleSeat

Wow, sounds like a rough trip for you. As this Community is primarily a customer to customer forum you will want to reach out to Southwest via the phone or on one of their social media channels to get more assistance. If you go the social media route initiate contact by saying you have questions regarding your recent trip, wait for a reply, then send further details in a private message. Good luck, I hope all ends well. --TheMiddleSeat

I haven't heard any studies or reports that air travel was a popular tool for abductors (other than within the dometic unit, but that's a different issue). An airport is so full of security, documentation is provided to such a high degree for the adult, and as @TheMiddleSeat mentioned the amount of false positives are probably more than the actual incidents. Not that things can't be improved - if you had some specific ideas @Kggarner78 I'm not sure of the best venue to suggest them, either TSA or FAA? Direct to Southwest via the contact us link? https://www.southwest.com/contact-us/contact-us.html?clk=GFOOTER-CUSTOMER-CONTACT-US I guess Southwest is responsible for their own ticketing policies which could be more stringent in some cases, but these also have to line up with the federal requirements that aren't always open for change.
