For anyone seeking more info, there are quite a few forums online dedicated to "manufactured spending," which offer news of specific offers, and discuss the advantages -- and also the risks -- involved. When it comes to Southwest specifically, keep in mind that using a Southwest gift card comes with some limitations worth considering. Never use one to buy a "refundable" fare, since you can't get a refund to a gift card (even if within the first 24 hours on a WGA fare) -- all "refunds" become travel funds. Also, gift cards themselves are non-refundable, can't be replaced if lost or stolen, it's impossible to combine gift card amounts together, and the Southwest payment system limits gift cards to a maximum of three per passenger on each reservation, or two if you need to also apply a credit card. If you're able to reduce the "cost" of a Southwest gift card through manufactured spending they can be worth using, but only if the limitations won't affect you. Otherwise, I generally do not recommend using them. Here are the full terms and conditions.

Thanks all for your feedback. It doesn’t sound like they make any exceptions to non refundable tickets so I just canceled the tickets & they’ll sit in a travel fund for a year. Maybe take a shorter trip next year? Thanks! 😊

I believe there was another recent thread that said since Southwest flies out of C gates, use the main terminal if you are checking any luggage. Southwest doesn't maintain any curbside or ticket counters at the international terminal.

If your flight isn't today, then you may not be able to get a boarding pass yet - they are only available 24 hours prior to your flight.

No, the confirmation number should not be necessary to get an escort pass. If the person requesting the pass has the passenger name and knows what flight the passenger is on that should be enough. Are you handling check-in for the return flight (if there is one)? In theory, someone could cancel the flight if they have the information needed to check-in (confirmation number or RR account login information). Or, you could purchase EarlyBird Check-In so you don't have to worry about it. --TheMiddleSeat

UPDATE: I did get a call back from the 1-800-435-9792 number within 15 minutes YAY! A very nice lady did some research and found out that the gift card was emailed to my daughter, not me. It is being emailed again to my daughter's email address so we shall see. So far she has not received it but it probably needs more time. I will return with an update. Do not bother with the 855-234-4654 number as the wait time is waaaay too long with no call back option. Don't bother with the online email option as it doesn't pertain to gift cards.
