I personally have not heard of that error or seen it myself. Maybe try to uninstall and reinstall the app or make sure the apps are up to date. If it still doesn’t work on your next flight I would recommend sending the error to Southwest on twitter and maybe they can help with troubleshooting. If it works on your next flight then it may have been a case of the Friday the 13th gremlins or just a hick up with that WiFi hotspot. -Blake

@jksobonya wrote: When a plane has an open seating policy and no reserved seats, this can happen. Honestly, I don't care where I sit on the plane, so it's not an issue for me. Why are people so concerned about being in the first few rows of an airplane, where seats are often saved? The only reason to be towards the front of the plane is if you have a very short connection to catch. If your connection time is one hour or more, where you sit in the plane really doesn't matter. --Jessica For those who check bags it also shouldn't matter where you sit on the plane because rushing to baggage claim to wait is a bit silly which is why I usually go towards the exit row or farther back.

@jksobonya wrote: was for Saturday morning with 2 stops in MDW and Austin TX, but knowing how weather can be in Chicago I had rebooked it to go through ORD the night before instead, thinking it was much more direct and the weather would be better heading south than heading west. You mean MCO? I'd agree that seems much more straightforward. And as a last ditch if the flights were all disrupted you could take ground transport the last four hours as a last resort. @jksobonya wrote: So, my question to you all is this: is this normal?! 😄 When flights get rerouted in the 11th hour as mine was, how do the agents working with bags know to find the right bag and tag it to the right location? I assume the pink "TRANSFER" tags are the first thing that they look for since my bag already had a stop/transfer - as well as a luggage tag with a name on it. But I'm wondering if situations like these result in a majority of lost luggage, and I just got really lucky. I'm into big data and this would be very interesting if we had the database to go through. IMO and not supported by any data, only looking at things from a predictive standpoint, connections add one opportunity for bags to miss a flight. Also checking bags way early allows them to be hanging out and overlooked. Checking them way late allows them to go on different flights but I wouldn't say to go missing. Changing itinerary I think is fine, as @bec102896 mentioned having someone call down to find your bag and mark it with new itinerary was great! Otherwise they come to the airport later. I've seen varying levels of Southwest staff clearing the carousels: Some of the smaller airports they are out there collecting yoru stuff right away - go to the bathroom even and the baggage office already has corraled your items. LAS also on the lookout to keep your items secured. So glad that worked out for you, and that they were able to re-route your baggage.

Entering the code itself when you get onboard I think you may find this to be a legitimate bonus for flying Southwest, as long as you don't have to enter any personal info to claim the code why not try it? Hey - nailed it!

You're welcome. There are also some great cockpit videos on YouTube, a really good one I just watched is of an Aer Lingus on approach to San Francisco. It provides a good sense of the flight deck activity (checklists, radio communications, and coordination) with great scenery. If there was a good Southwest video like this then I would have referenced that one instead!

The flight in 2019 will count for this year but it won't give the credit until the Round trip is complete meaning the return he won't be A List since the account will still show 24. He could call and see if they will split the return off to a seperate one way but not sure if they will be able to or not. -Blake

I'm not really sure why gender specification is relevant to an airline, but, here we are. Have other companies adopted a non-binary option? Most profiles that I fill out on web sites still say male/female only in my experience. --Jessica

I would reach out to southwest on Twitter and hopefully they can help with unlocking your account after you verify yourself which would be for your accounts protection. You could also call reservations at 800-435-9792 and they might be able to help as well. -Blake

@gbfinancial wrote: No where on the itineray I was given when I booked a flight did it say that my direct flight from Indianapolis to Dallas was going through Chicago. When a flight says non-stop.... I think @bec102896 nailed it referring to direct vs non-stop. The only other clarification may be that sometimes the schedule does change after booking and if that's the case you have one opportunity to call and reschedule to a non-stop flight if any suit your schedule. Southwest will have tried to match your timing as best they could including direct or connecting flights. It sounds like the issue may be direct vs non-stop though - check your booking confirmation and see if it is the same flight number as shown today.

What a bizarre story! How could someone in their seat, with their seatbelt on, and half asleep with headphones on, be accused of tripping someone and being intoxicated? When did this 'tripping' someone occur, according to them? When boarding? While going to a seat? --Jessica

That's rough! $200 is fair compensation but I can agree that you would want a little something extra considering all the other problems that you encountered. My only experience in this area was a flight en route to Vegas with a stop in Chicago last January. Got to Chicago no problem, but there was an issue with the plane preventing takeoff to Vegas, and a snowstorm coming that night. If the flight was cancelled, I would be stuck in Chicago for sure for who knows how long. Thankfully the plane did end up leaving, 4 hours later, and Southwest did give everyone a $100 voucher for the trouble. That was good enough for me! --Jessica

Sorry to hear you lost your Kindle on your recent flight. Did you put your serial number on the lost item report by chance? If not I recommend doing so as it can help with proof that it's your Kindle and not someone else's and may help with getting it back to you quicker. Hope your Kindle is returned soon! Blake

Unfortunately you can't add a passenger to a ticketed reservation however you can call reservations after the new reservation is booked and link them. All linking does is show the airline you all are traveling together. You will still need to check both confirmation numvers in at the 24 hour mark. I think it's mainly to help during irregular operations. Hope this helps Blake

I've never heard Southwest paying out any reimbursement at the airport, it's always a matter of saving receipts for essential items that must be purchased immediately such as a toothbrush and perhaps a change of clothes, then submitting a claim for reimbursement of those expenses. Southwest's contract of carriage does limit their liability to $3500 unless you declare and purchase coverage for extra value. I do not see any indication of reimbursement for purchasing essentials counting against the $3500 limit, but again, that reimbursement is for essential purchases, not an additional $1500 worth of stuff that you would like to replace. --TheMiddleSeat

Are both flights booked on the same reservation? If so they should be able to check it all the way to HNL although you will need to visit the full service ticket counter just explain to the agent your final destination is HNL. If you are booked on 2 seperate confirmation numbers they might still be able to do it just let the agent at the full service counter know both flights are booked separately and they might be able to do an override and check it all the way. Hope this helps Blake

@dfwskier wrote: @bec102896 wrote: I usually go for the exit row window/aisle if they are taken I'll go back towards the last row because that's usually where I might find the 1 open middle seat because who wants to be in the very back if they can be in the middle of the plane. -Blake My experience is that on very full planes, rows 2, 3 and 4 are the rows likely to have empty middle seats. Why? Most late boarders follow the leader towards the back of the plane to find seats. When they find none, they start heading forward and are instructed to take the first available seat. So there are times that late boarders fill up middle seats from the back to the front of the plane. Some late boarders are astute enough to grab a middle seat up front. I've noticed fewer of them than those mentioned in the preceeding paragraph. Agree @dfwskier the front third of the plane is Southwest's "hidden first class" likely to have an open middle - IMO because the bin space fills up so those late boarders with carry-on keep heading to the back and once they find bin space they take the next available seat as they head forwards. On a moderately full plane then good chance for an open middle seat in the way back as well.

Not all that surprising of a boarding position if the OP purchased a Business Select ticket. Is the position alone worth the extra cost for Business Select? No... so it's also worth checking at the desk for upgraded boarding which can be purchased for $40 and can also get you a A1-A15 position, the same numbers Business Select tickets are assigned. --TheMiddleSeat

This has become a common issue for people traveling to Hawaii and it appears check-in desk agents have become more accustomed to the request as compared to the phone agents who may not have as much experience with issues like this. Numerous reports from other Hawaii travelers indicate you're very likely to have the bags checked through to your final destination without any issues. My personal experience is that sometimes you do have to be a tad persistent and allow a little extra time in case the agent needs to get assistance from a supervisor. As @bec102896 said you will need to use the full service desk, not a kiosk or curbside check in. Enjoy Hawaii! --TheMiddleSeat
