I’m looking for companion status as early in Jan 2024 as possible. I will have most of December to work on it, and the points will post in early January, I want companion status all of 2024 and 2025. Online I can change my payment due date. If I change my payment due date to the 30th  of every month my statement date should be around the 3rd every month.  Does this make sense ? What gets back to me is that I am one of the very silent people who occasionally calls and complains about policies.  I am hearing that people are demanding partial refunds and filing disputes on their credit cards for partial rebates of fees paid.  No one wants to follow the rules and then watch others break those rules when the employee stands there and does nothing.   Disney has rules, Alamo Rental has rules and so does Southwest.  It is beyond time for these gate agents to do their jobs. ... @Jack2act I know this isn't the solution to what you are seeking, but, here goes anyway.  As a senior myself (67) I am for the most part able bodied and have never even had a thought of trying to get any early access to boarding.  But just as a individual I take no issue with any senior getting any extra benefit, in good faith or not, for any service.  The more elderly they are, the more I accept that.   ... This does not make sense for the 25% offer when I spent approximately $8000 in that time period. I’m A16 99% of the time and this doesn’t bother me at all because preboards can’t sit in the exit row, my preference. Of course, those exit row seats are also occasionally gone by the time I get on-board by the Biz Select folks, but oh well, I still always get an aisle or window (whatever I feel like that day) up front, which would’ve been pretty unlikely with a last-minute-ish booking on other airlines.    I mean, it is what it is. There is always zero guarantee you will get your absolute singular preferred seat or row anywhere, even when booking with airlines with assigned seating. I have a trip coming up in January and I have already cancelled and rebooked the same rental car now six times (free cancellation and no money paid to reserve) and the price for the week went from $497 to $367 now.     Once you use points, I'm not sure if you are getting a good deal.  I'm already saving $130 on the rental car by simply watching the prices.   I use points to fly only, not for anything else. ... You were absolutely correct about adding the RR number.  I had to change a reservation, added the RR number, and everything showed up. It's my recollection that previously if you were booking with points and filled in the box with your RR number, the system made you remove it before you could move on.  In any event, thank you for solving the problem for me.  Now, why didn't any of the Southwest people give me the answer years ago? ... When you travel, you have to be aware of the bag's weight.  The fact that you had an overweight bag means you pay the fee.  It does not mean that you get credit for the other bag's difference between the actual weight and the limit.   There is nothing absurd about the policy. ... View more

I have to agree with this terrible review. It’s not that the industry (SW and many other airlines) is struggling with staffing shortages it’s the condescending lies that just add insult to injury (fyi: had chosen less appropriate words for this community). Myself and my co-work received the same ‘bad weather’ lines on two different flights. At first I took the ‘reason’ at face value but then after hearing some verbal complaints from other customers…I decided to check weather and if other airlines were canceling flights to/from the locations causing the SW delay and cancellation (for my coworker). To my surprise weather/radar/wind was clear AND others were flying in/out of Oklahoma City and Las Vegas! Worse yet for my coworker, even Southwest departed a jet for Las Vegas about 2hrs after his cancelled flight was scheduled to depart?! WTH? He was told by the SW employee that due to wind/weather ‘no one will be flying into Las Vegas for a LONG time’!  My point here is that it’s rather obvious by a quick check of other carriers departures/arrivals that the SW delays/cancellations are due to staffing shortages and/or challenges unrelated to weather BUT as we were made well aware of by SW staff, there are NO vouchers or compensations provided when cancellations and/or delays are due to ‘weather’…how convenient for the short-term but is this questionable business practice going to work in the long term. I think not…better get it together sooner than later SW. A few less flights/days might help ease the strain on your pilots and staff….and ultimately keep your valued customers from straying off to other airlines.  ... View more
