If your talking about a trip in April it looks like they are redoing the schedule and a lot of people are having schedule changes the nice thing with southwest compared to other airlines if your flight changes by even 5min you get 1 free change to any flight you want with same city pairs within 2 weeks of your original flight so did you book a red eye because it was cheaper well you could switch to the mid afternoon $400 without a penny more owed so when you say you got rebooked and you have to pay well if they rebooked you then you can change for free or request a refund if the change is major.

Southwest is correct in that those purchases made in the last half of December would count towards companion pass. They just didn't indicate which year they would count for. They would have no idea when your statement processing day is with Chase.

It is possible that when they added you as the companion, it created a new RR # for you. It did this for my husband when I added him many years ago. I had to call SW to get it changed to his current RR#.

This exact thing had just happened to me. I have checked the confirmation number on Southwest’s website and it’s legitimate.
I also live in the UK and am not likely to be doing a return trip between Oklahoma City and Nashville…..

Our closing date is January 4.
Am I understanding this correctly--anything we charge starting now will post in 2022?
We have to charge $25K ASAP to get Companion & we have some large purchases coming up. (OK DH is anxious to order golf clubs...not sure why when he likely can't use them until his golf trip in late Feb.)
I don't want to mess this thing up!
I doubt that it’s worth $25k unless you were going to buy the things anyway.
If the CP holder flew 100 times at $200 each on average it’s still only a $20,000 value…? Would the pass be used 100 times?
Anyway, you will need to buy some things direct through Southwest Shopping or Rocketmiles instead of relying solely on credit card spending if you want this to happen before end of year.

I hate to be the one to tell you, but you are showing your lack of information quite boldly. First, it is not "HIPPA", it is "HIPAA". And, Southwest is not a healthcare provider so they have no "protected health information" or PHI in their records. So, my advice is to read a few articles and brush up on what you are talking about. For myself, I enjoy the preboarding. It is a nice policy.

When is your credit card closing date? That is the date that matters for points posting from credit card charges.

Yes, I have to do this often. Cancel the companion flight and once that is removed from your flight, then you can make the change. Once you make the change, you will have to add your companion flight back on to your reservation. A little process, but it works without having to call in.

A couple things. My guess is that you're wanting to sit next to each other so one of you will be in the middle seat so if you were to buy EBCI, buy it for one and then just saved the middle seat since no one will complain about a saved middle seat.
Secondly, I bought EBCI just for me on the trip I'm on right now and for the first time ever, my wife got checked in 1 spot after me for some reason on both legs of the trip. Not sure why.

I'm sorry that happened to you! I have seen (and experienced wet luggage) where lightening struck during a rain storm and sirens went off in the airport/outside for all personnel to move indoors. In that moment, they would not have time to throw covers over luggage. Praying you were able to save some of the items and not everything was completely destroyed.

I understand your situation of limited time, and many of the points have been covered. But with the limited non-stop anymore, I've found myself doing SWA on one way of the trip and another airline for the other way. It seems to be working for me, and of course, I'm a part of the other airline's reward program as well.

@Vetter Congrats on earning the CP! I know there are special promotions that go on through the year, but wanted to caution you on the expiration date. Make sure you verify in your My Account page of the expiration date of the CP. I had a friend earn it in July of one year and she thought it would expire in July of the next. CP dates are typically based on a calendar year (January 1 - December 31). Qualifying points earned are based on these dates as well. For future point earning, you would want to know when your credit card statement will post each month, especially for the December posting of points. Have fun using that CP! I love this perk!!

@yogamon Do you know every city your plane was scheduled to be in today? It is so naïve to look only at the weather where you are and think "it's totally clear, everything should be fine". Your plane could have been in 6, 8, 10 cities today. And once again, flights are not cancelled solely because not enough seats are sold. --TheMiddleSeat

Jealous! I wonder how prizes went "unclaimed" - you didn't have to claim points prizes, so it's a little confusing how they are giving more points away now. Maybe the prices given away specifically on June 18, like the large point prizes, had to be claimed? That would be a shame if the bigger prizes were never claimed by anyone! --Jessica

This is not my first rodeo. There was no notification. When I checked my new flight status the next day the system could not even find the flight number. People, do you not watch the news? Southwest and American have been doing this to their customers a lot lately. They are scheduling flights hoping to have the personnel. So we are all crossing fingers and hoping there is a flight. They want things to go back to pre covid travel but at what cost?

Sorry to hear of your problem, but you are dealing with a federal regulation. Southwest has no control in the matter. If you want to complain, You should contact your elected federal reps

It should also be noted that Southwest does not run the hotel booking program, it merely links to a hotel booking engine run by a third party company. I think it's booking.com? Anyway, just like Chase uses points to entice customers, the third party hotel company uses points to entice people to book hotels. --TheMiddleSeat

This is the #1 confusion with Early Bird - despite automatically receiving a boarding position 36 hours ahead of the flight, you still have to "check in" at the 24 hour mark to receive your boarding pass and save it to your phone / print it / etc. You can check in any time in the 24 hours before your flight, and that's the true benefit, because your boarding position was already assigned to you ahead of everyone else trying to checking in at < 24 hours. --Jessica

@dfwskier wrote: Flight prices for the time period are much higher than for late August (at least for the routes I looked at). Southwest will reduce those prices at some point because it will sell no tickets at that level. My guess is it will reduce prices to the late August level or maybe even lower. Why? Very few people fly during that time. It's a dead season. For example, the best DAL / MDW price for late August is $79. The lowest price for the same flight starting mid September - using the discount code - is $80 Of course you can book, and if the price drops. you can change your flight, and pocket a travel fund. I will wait until my expected price drop for the time period happens. @dfwskier are you sure about that? When is this expected "price drop" supposed to happen? I typically go to Vegas around Halloween, which is right in line with the sale. Flight prices in Oct were always somewhat reasonable/normal (if you consider $200 one way normal which I do these days) - Oct 29 had a sale price of $136, so I grabbed that before the sale ended. Now that flight is $218, and that's the cheap one. The rest are $300-$400. Going home on Nov 1, the cheapest flight is now $361. Should have booked it when it was on sale at/around $200-ish, but I hesitated ... Nov 2 some are in the $200-$250 range, so I'll probably get one of those before they go up more. I don't anticipate them going down, but hey, maybe they will lol. I also debated going to Florida (FLL) for a day and then heading out to Vegas on 10/30 ... those flights with the sale were around $100 and going to Vegas was *under* $100, one option was just $75 ... then they went up the last day of the sale and now those flights are hundreds more. Shouldn't have hesitated. Oh well lol. If the flights do go down I can always book them later. --Jessica

You could book your companion's trip with points. Then it is easy to cancel (and get your points back) and add the companion in case the flight might sell out. When you call to change your companion on your companion pass, you can have the agent make the changes for the flights for your wife.
