It seems the guidance on this has been updated. The weight requirement remains but the 62 inches in total size no longer results in excess size charges.
https://support.southwest.com/helpcenter/s/article/What-sports-equipment-can-I-bring?clk=HC_Bags_1301_AcceptedSportsEquip
If the item of sporting equipment exceeds 50 pounds in weight, excess weight charges will apply. If the item of sporting equipment exceeds 62 inches in size (outside length plus height plus width), excess size charges will not apply.

Thank you so much for this information! I believe her car seat is FAA approved but I will double check the next time we go out. Since her dad will be with us I don’t think I have to worry about not being able to put both arm rests up but will still most likely put her by the window since that seems to be easiest.

SW changed the app and chat s now "hidden," but here's how you can find it.
click on "helpcenter" click on "day of travel" cliuck on "I want to fly standby or make a same day change"
and then a "chat" bubble will appear - allowing you to chat
I have to admit this is not a positive change.
Is the chat limited to those activities?
I really enjoyed the chat when it first rolled out and was staffed.
Then when the bot came in it was no longer able to handle my "deep dive" requests, I already know how to do most of the basic activities that it was trying to help with as a bot.
Twitter still my go-to.

The pet policy on Southwest Airlines is very clear...cats and dogs only. If you had followed the pet policy directions, you would have had to call to make your pet's reservation...and then would have found out that your chinchilla would not have been allowed to fly. I'm sorry you found out the hard way.
Specific to your case:
We welcome small, vaccinated domestic cats and dogs in an appropriate pet carrier in the cabin on domestic flights.
Space is limited, so we ask that you make a reservation in advance by calling us.

I would wrap the folded beach chair in beach towels and then pack it flat in a cardboard box. You can strategically make a cardboard box to custom fit it by using one or two other large cardboard boxes that are cut to size and securely taped together.
Write FRAGILE in red on all sides of the box.
To avoid excess size charges, the finished box will need to be equal to or less than 62 inches in size (outside length plus height plus width).
Also be aware that you will not be entitled to reimbursement or compensation if it is damaged, as this will be a situation where limited release of liability applies.

What is the latest time to check luggage?
Some of the smaller locations may allow a shorter window but no one would recommend that, and you gradually are less likely to travel with your luggage.
*Thank you PNS for that one time where it was about 15 minutes! That's an exception, not the rule...
I like @tappingmom1 's advice. Trying for at least an hour on most domestic flights but 45 minutes may be allowable.

Regardless of what others tell you, Southwest is responsible for your safety and wellbeing on board. While you may choose to report the activity, you are not required to do so.
You need to file a written report with both Southwest and law enforcement. Use your destination as the agency to report the behavior.
Since you are attributing the behavior to drinking, Southwest is serving the drinks so they are accountable.

I think you need to contact the airlines directly and ask for any additional fees, and it is better to ask for a link to which you can refer at the check-in point.

That being said I just felt it would make sense to purchase the base price ticket if I were being offered family boarding simply to try and save a little money. I do not expect to get anything more than what I pay for...
That's exactly the rules and thousands of people do this every day. It isn't entitlement.
@MizzT74 wrote:
And even though they have family boarding the real assurance would just be to purchase business class tickets. But thank you all for your feedback.
Business Select will be way overkill for that. Although you would be one of the first 15 positions the cost increase may be 3x the cost of WGA fares.
Consider upgraded boarding, if it is available, on the day of the flight but that's it. The system is designed that regular customers can buy WGA fares and have a very reasonable, if not quite certain chance of sitting with their children.
The only time it doesn't work is if the child is seven or older or if the passengers are late and miss the window for family boarding.

I don't think this is something that needs to be arranged. I would just show up (not during the busy morning flights) and ask.
However...the agents at the check-in desk will not inspect it (other than looking at it) or approve it. The final call on whether it flies onboard with you will be at the gate and will be up to that person. Most likely, it will depend on its size, how much room it requires for onboard storage, and whether it can be stored safely. A polite conversation at the gate desk may move you in the right direction.
Without disclosing your disability, it would be helpful to know what this mobility device is...and, perhaps, better advice can be given.

I had the same issue coming home from DEN last year.... Was a time when the bag belts were broken and didn't want to argue the point too much. Paid the $50 for the extra boot bag. Explained I came from AUS with same bags; no charge. All that was in one bag was skis and poles. The other boots, helmet and gloves...(Boot size soft bag) YMMV

You cannot, under the law, require a preboard passenger to be delayed at exiting the plane. In fact, it would be more logical for them to exit the plane before anyone else.
Keeping a passenger on the plane against their will would result in a lawsuit for illegal detention and arrest.

If you remove the cup holder on the side (which I believe is removable), this seat should measure 16" or less in width and should fit SWA seats without the arm rest needing to be raised.

You can bring this cushion as a "free" item.
Per SWA, you have the right to travel with an assistive device.
The U.S. Department of Transportation* defines an assistive device as "any piece of equipment that assists a passenger with a disability in coping with the effects of his or her disability."
You have a disability. This cushion helps you cope, relieving pain or allowing you to be more mobile when you get up. You do not need to explain your disability but, as mentioned upstream, I would clear it with the gate agent just so you don't get pulled out of the boarding line to answer questions...and possibly lose your boarding place.
So, you should be able to take the following on board: 1. Carry-on bag: Place above seat
2. Personal Item: Must fit under the seat in front of you. I would place your medications in this smaller personal item bag...just in case your carry-on bag needs to be gate checked.
3. Assistive Cushion
Safe travels!
