I strongly suspect that there was a miscommunication between the agent and the OP, and the usual process of reissuing expired funds as a voucher is what was actually referenced.
There's often confusion regarding travel fund "extensions" vs "reissue as a voucher." I try to always make that distinction for clarity's sake.
There's no "reinstating expired funds," and at this time Southwest hasn't announced any additional covid-accommodation extensions (and, IMHO isn't likely to, especially specifically "all travel funds of $100").

Yes! I have to cancel several times because of the pandemic. You steal 750 dollars from me and my family. Yes SWA stole my money! What other name can I give. Stealing! Stealing hard worked earned money! YES!

I hate to be the one to tell you, but you are showing your lack of information quite boldly. First, it is not "HIPPA", it is "HIPAA". And, Southwest is not a healthcare provider so they have no "protected health information" or PHI in their records. So, my advice is to read a few articles and brush up on what you are talking about. For myself, I enjoy the preboarding. It is a nice policy.

I also have the one that DancingDavidE has. I love it! I can easily fit 2 pairs of shoes, 5 mid-season outfits, and a set of workout clothes in it, plus toiletries. When I need to pack a jacket, it expands to fit it. I carry my laptop in a tote that goes under the seat in front of me. I would really consider the smaller size for reasons already mentioned upstream.

SW's stated policy is that as long as there is a mask mandate, service will consist of no more than 4 different drinks plus coffee. Why? To minimize flight attendant potential exposure to Covid.

Mom of a former Juilliard student... Definitely what THEMIDDLESEAT said!! Do NOT check it. Buy it a nice middle seat. If you really want to protect it, put it at the window (depending on the case) and you take the middle.

@spratrat,. So sorry this happened. An after midnight trip from IAH to HOU will not be fun. The only good thing is less traffic on the road so hopefully less worry about not having the children in car seats. The fare from one airport to the other was about $65 via Uber about three years ago (and about $1 per minute). Plus I always found that catching an Uber or Lyft from IAH was more complicated than I liked, so Hobby was always my airport of choice. I hope the trek goes well and the children are sleeping. My child never got sleepy on a plane or in a hired car, no matter how early or late I traveled, so I know you cannot count on that. My heart goes out to you — it was always hard for me to grasp just how big Houston is in land area. I agree with you that it doesn’t seem like the two airports should be counted as being in the same city.

Jealous! I wonder how prizes went "unclaimed" - you didn't have to claim points prizes, so it's a little confusing how they are giving more points away now. Maybe the prices given away specifically on June 18, like the large point prizes, had to be claimed? That would be a shame if the bigger prizes were never claimed by anyone! --Jessica

No problem at all. All of the SW gates at LAX are literally within 1-2 minutes of each other. You could probably do more than just grab a sandwich (as another poster mentioned up above). You could probably grab a sit down meal and go to the bathroom and browse for some reading material before having to board.

I empathize because I have learned the exact same lesson, except with a $50 voucher and an additional $200 purchase. I begrudgingly accepted it and never made the same mistake again. There are so many other good things about Southwest that this one “hrmmph” moment did not turn me off of the airline. Sorry that it happened to you. There are several posts on this forum that warn about it; however, I suspect that, like me, you may not have looked to see that it could happen until it did happen to you.

Before my last flight with Southwest I would have agreed with you about the flight attendants helping you to get some seats together for you and kids but not now. We had a flight attendant who didn’t care one bit about us and was going to allow my grandson to cry the whole flight because he was separated from my wife and I. I too purchased the early bird check in and was in group A for all of us however southwest changed our flights because our original flight was delayed and we would have missed our connecting flight. When they changed our flight we lost our early bird status and were the last to board creating only single seats to choose from. My wife asked about the possibility of asking someone to switch so my grandson could sit with one of us but he joked about it and did nothing. My grandson ended up getting upset and crying and luckily a kind gentleman switched to allow my wife to sit with my grandson. So if I were you I would count on help from the flight attendants. Check in as soon as possible for your flights so you get the earliest possible boarding group. Also don’t change your flights because you will lose your early bird status.

You, my friend, just received a gift...if your purchase does not go through. I wouldn't touch Southwest Vacations with a ten-foot pole. They are not affiliated with Southwest Airlines, even though they are promoted on their site. Google their reviews. Read about them on this discussion board. You're welcome.

Not a bad idea, just be sure to cancel at least 10 minutes prior to departure if Southwest doesn't cancel the flight. --TheMiddleSeat

Psychiatric Service Animals are very different than Emotional Support Animals, as they are trained for specific work or tasks. Not everyone is aware of this at the airport. When you have this noted on your reservation, be sure they note a PSA, not an ESA (as ESAs are no longer allowed). Be ready to describe what work or task your animal provides. You do not need to disclose (nor should you be asked) your psychiatric disability. Glad to see that you have been so proactive. Happy flying!

It is not government overreach. The federal law supports my sons condition and mandates accommodation. The airline overreach is what ignored federal regulation to accommodate him despite his disability.

@nanonanosw wrote: @dfwskier Thanks for your opinion on this. I disagree, but your information is a good addition to this conversation. I'm wondering if you could clarify a statistic that I think is a bit misleading in your post... "The chances of dying from COVID-19 contracted on a flight are between 1 in 400,000 and 1 in 600,000 depending on your age and other risk factors. That's according to Arnold Barnett, a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, who has been trying to quantify the odds of catching Covid-19 while flying" With all we now know about the potential for debilitating long term effects from the virus, and the risk of silent carrier's exposing other more vulnerable people, contracting Covid is a much higher risk and more relevent concern than dying from Covid is for most of us. Do you have any statistics to share on the chances of "just" contracting Covid on an airplane? I seem to recall the odds are 1 in 5000 to 1 in 7000 - or something close to that with a range of severity ranging from not even knowing you have it to sniffles, to mild fever and shortness of breath, to severe fever and shortness of breath to hospitalization -- and everything in between.. I am unaware of any statistics that provide additional granularity on severity (chances of getting it and being hospitalized for example) -

Afternoon. Found this thread when researching which airlines will protect my health by following the basic science of viral transmission that we've had locked down for something near a hundred years now. I was getting a kick from the plandemic people in the thread with their hilarious accusations that masks don't work or that the virus isn't real. Let me guess folks, the earth is flat and the moon landing was faked? 😂 They're spying on us with the five gee?? 🤣 Never fails to make me laugh when people are *proud* of their ignorance. Anyway, masks do work: https://www.nature.com/articles https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/coronavirus/in-depth/coronavirus-mask/art-20485449/d41586-020-02801-8 If you simply *must* continue to be ignorant on purpose about it, well shoot you know you're right, right? So you should have no problem saying so with your full name and face attached, right? Come on, I bet your employer would love to hear how much smarter you are than every virologist in the world 🙂 what are you, chicken? 🐔🐔

Looks like we're back to pre-pandemic holiday fares. There were some great deals out there for holiday travel about a month ago. Early bird gets the worm. I wouldn't be too surprised to see some last minute holiday deals once people decide they are just going to stay home and aren't actually going to travel, but that's just a guess. --TheMiddleSeat
