I have to agree with this terrible review. It’s not that the industry (SW and many other airlines) is struggling with staffing shortages it’s the condescending lies that just add insult to injury (fyi: had chosen less appropriate words for this community). Myself and my co-work received the same ‘bad weather’ lines on two different flights. At first I took the ‘reason’ at face value but then after hearing some verbal complaints from other customers…I decided to check weather and if other airlines were canceling flights to/from the locations causing the SW delay and cancellation (for my coworker). To my surprise weather/radar/wind was clear AND others were flying in/out of Oklahoma City and Las Vegas! Worse yet for my coworker, even Southwest departed a jet for Las Vegas about 2hrs after his cancelled flight was scheduled to depart?! WTH? He was told by the SW employee that due to wind/weather ‘no one will be flying into Las Vegas for a LONG time’! My point here is that it’s rather obvious by a quick check of other carriers departures/arrivals that the SW delays/cancellations are due to staffing shortages and/or challenges unrelated to weather BUT as we were made well aware of by SW staff, there are NO vouchers or compensations provided when cancellations and/or delays are due to ‘weather’…how convenient for the short-term but is this questionable business practice going to work in the long term. I think not…better get it together sooner than later SW. A few less flights/days might help ease the strain on your pilots and staff….and ultimately keep your valued customers from straying off to other airlines.

Not trying to bully anyone, but I wouldn't consider any refund outside of the policy that I've established. SWA and many other companies worked and tried to do what they could during a crazy time of our lives, but they, or anyone, could guarantee everyone was going to be satisfied. Not just with airlines, but other issues and services as well I had to bite the bullet and move on. No, I wasn't happy, but I've not tried to make others feel bad as like with SWA, there were policies in place that I didn't take the time to fully go over and it's my fault. I hope this is just a minor blip in your life and you can move on and maybe I will see you on a future flight, if not, good, I have an empty middle seat.

I fly a few times a week with good ol’ SWA and finally got a gold bag snack mix again today on SJC-DAL. I think they might still be using up those genetic white pretzel bags at certain hubs because I haven’t seen it anywhere else this week (long, short, midrange) despite their reappearance elsewhere. I was told weeks earlier it was a supply chain issue, like so many things right now. I loved the peanuts of old (they went great with a Friday flight home cocktail, ahem) but I too have been enjoying the snack mix, which popped up around last Spring. Hope they keep them around a while.

I find no record of a contract between Southwest and the FA union after 2016-2018. In mid February 2020 the two groups were about to head into mediation. I bet the virus stopped that cold. So I'd' bet the groups are negotiating again. A typical union thing is to do something like this during contract negotiations. edit add: I bet that once the FAs have a new contract that they won't be at the "breaking point" anymore.

No problem at all. All of the SW gates at LAX are literally within 1-2 minutes of each other. You could probably do more than just grab a sandwich (as another poster mentioned up above). You could probably grab a sit down meal and go to the bathroom and browse for some reading material before having to board.

I’m guessing it took more than 20 seconds for you to compose that email. Now you’ve let what amounted to a 20 second moment of inconvenience in your life and probably more than tripled the effect. And made it a major sticking point for you. Why? Life is too short and precious as it is.

No, we're not missing the point. You are. You just used 4 or 5 quite descriptive emotional adjectives to describe an airline seat. We don't understand why you would describe a seat with such vitriol, or if so, why that particular seat was so different than the one you ended up sitting in. In my opinion, the two seats are rather identical, and as an inanimate object, neither is worthy of such description.

The plane was also full so I had to get off the plane, because I wasn’t leaving her. But I’m very furious with SW. security came over because I was so upset. We needed to get home. Security didn’t even think she was but they don’t have any control over the flights. But I felt they had someone they needed to get on the plane. Very frustrating. I always fly SW but not sure if I will again. And sorry this happened to you. Sorry to hear of your bad experience. I get that part, they're non-refundable, I'm not asking about a refund. SW's policy states in bold letters "do not travel" if you have a fever, been diagnosed, etc etc, then advises to contact customer relations for assistance. I was only asking to see if anyone has had experience with this and what their policies are as they're completely silent from what I can find.

Not sure if you've ever run a business before, but when profit margins are as razor thin as they are when one is running an airline, the customer gets the final say. Ever heard the old expression, "Don't bite the hand that feeds you"? Well, in this particular case, the customer is the one providing the money. No need for the wheedling; you know very well that Southwest would have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy had it not been for federal TAXPAYER bailouts. No Southwest would not have filed for bankruptcy had it not been foe the federal TAXPAYER bailouts. All that money was spent to keep people on the payroll. Absent the TAXPAYER baiiouts the airline would have done what every other business would have done - it would have fired thousands of employees and remained in business. Masks are require - period. If you or some member of your party can't / won't wear one, then don't try to get on the plane.

@gretch0628 Am I being unreasonable? In a word, YES! I work all year, mostly into Nov and Dec before the points for my companion finally reach the jackpot. And we are taking many flights, not the other promotions. You get on one flight and you have that luxury for months? I will admit, it's not during the best of times, but it's there. So I can attest you won't get much tread on this one even from the skeptical SWA travelers.

Afternoon. Found this thread when researching which airlines will protect my health by following the basic science of viral transmission that we've had locked down for something near a hundred years now. I was getting a kick from the plandemic people in the thread with their hilarious accusations that masks don't work or that the virus isn't real. Let me guess folks, the earth is flat and the moon landing was faked? 😂 They're spying on us with the five gee?? 🤣 Never fails to make me laugh when people are *proud* of their ignorance. Anyway, masks do work: https://www.nature.com/articles https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/coronavirus/in-depth/coronavirus-mask/art-20485449/d41586-020-02801-8 If you simply *must* continue to be ignorant on purpose about it, well shoot you know you're right, right? So you should have no problem saying so with your full name and face attached, right? Come on, I bet your employer would love to hear how much smarter you are than every virologist in the world 🙂 what are you, chicken? 🐔🐔

It's probably a good idea for somebody with a respiratory condition such as COPD to avoid unnecessary exposure risks right now. Such as being inside an enclosed container with other people and not wearing a mask. Personally, I'm taking as few exposure risks as I possibly can these days.

Can anybody explain why Southwest does not have a deplaning process which would also allow distancing as well. It does seem odd. The Southwest Promise specifically states coverage "from check-in to deplaning," and they do say: "Once the plane has landed, you are encouraged to stay seated until your row is clear to move into the aisle." But no one actually does anything on-board to help reduce the scrum of people that happens immediately following the bell. While it may be difficult to control the (bizarre) human nature at play, I do think an announcement by the FA would help. They could also have a de-boarding process where FAs direct each row individually, but that would increase FAs exposure risks, and also likely slow down the all-important turn. Nail meet hammer.
