Like I have said before, you can do acrobatics and back flips all the way to the gate, wear a t-shirt that says "I CHEAT THE PREBOARD SYSTEM", give an interview on Fox News about your abuse of the system, then self-identify as a person with a disability - PREBOARD.

So, I got the email from SWA this morning about $53 flights for their 53rd birthday. I get these promotions all the time but for the life of me, I can ever find an actual promotional flight. Do they only exist for flights from Poughkeepsie to Podunk? My home airport is BWI but I usually look at Philly, Myrtle Beach and Phoenix. Is there anywhere that lists routes that actually qualify for these really low fares?
Follow this link and under "Search for low fares" drop the departure city down to your home airport. I just did a search from your home airport BWI and found $53 flights to Cleveland, Norfolk, Pittsburgh, and Richmond.

Definitely use it if you want to.
Perhaps I'm opening a can of worms here but I will say even if only one person on the reservation is A-List I don't see a problem with a family using the priority lane. Nothing has ever been said to me when I've been in this situation so you could give it a try next time you are flying with others.
What's everyone else's thoughts on that? Does everyone using the priority check-in lane need to be A-List?

I’ve flown my qualifying segments as of 10/31/21 and had 4 different SW reps tell me I’ve qualified for A List renewal for ‘22. Yet, my account has not been updated to reflect it. Just this morning, I was told that they see in my record that I’ve qualified, but that no one’s will show up until a system-wide update on 12/31. Obviously, that’s false based on what some have written on this thread. I’m concerned because I have one more (expensive!) flight in ‘21 I can convert from a points to a paid business class fare to qualify. The rep this morning said I “absolutely do not need to do that.” Thoughts from those more experienced than I in dealing with Southwest?

Are you A-List? If so, why not cancel the Business Select ticket and then buy a lower price one that would let you and your companion be next to one another in boarding position?

Tier qualifying points max out after you hit $100,000 of spend in a year. My guess is you bumped the limit. Here are the rules: 1,500 Tier Qualifying Points towards A-List and A-List Preferred status for every $10,000 spent, up to $100,000. So the maximum number of tier points you can earn in a year is 15,000

I have never been in boarding group C. I'm sure it can be less than ideal. Prior to the increase I bought early bird for almost every flight. Now that the cost has gone up I don't buy it as often. I just set a reminder and make sure I check in 24 hours in advance. I carry the SW Priority card which gives me 4 seat upgrades a year. When I've had high B numbers I've used those seat upgrades. You have options to stay out of C boarding. Spend some money, upgrade your CC or be ready to checkin 24 hours before the flight.

Southwest is not doing a good job of handling this entirely self-inflicted situation. My flight on Monday was significantly delayed. They knew that this would be happening by the middle of the previous day. They notified me at 2:30am for a 6:50am flight. If they had notified me the day before, I could have possibly rescheduled. There were other possibilities. This was poor handling. Southwest should do better at being proactive in handling problems caused by poor management. However, I did get an email from them later in the week giving me $100 of LUV. I'd rather they had get me to work on time. I'd rather they would have let me know about my delayed flight earlier. I suspect it was easier for Southwest to make me late to work than to deal with me trying to reschedule. For that, Southwest, you suck. But, as bad as Southwest is sometimes, they are generally better than any of the other choices, and no one else would have proactively sent me a voucher. Now, if SWA stock would just improve. I've lost a chunk of change on SWA and BA stock in the last few months.

Just read through all of these and, while I understand the "industry standard" blah blah blah, I don't care. Frankly, Southwest has distinguished itself by NOT being like all the other carriers. As well, I would need to see an ATC/IATA ruling about not allowing these funds to be used at the consumer's direction to buy that as a rationale. The bottom line, in my opinion, is that Southwest should allow the funds to be applied as dollars to another ticket by the purchaser - who, you know, paid for the ticket in the first place - rather than converting those funds to points. My original intent in paying for someone else's ticket (aka, our two daughters traveling as college students) is to buy a ticket, not to buy points. I earn points for buying their tickets on my SWA Rapid Rewards credit card but I'm not really interested in having to use any of my points to recoup my spend for a plane ticket that needs to be canceled. Again, I do appreciate that SWA has a provision to reserve the travel funds for a canceled ticket in my name. That's awesome. I just think it should also apply for a canceled ticket that I clearly purchased for someone else.

If you are booking with a credit card for you then YES you can book both you and your son on the same reservation it can be done on the app or website or by phone (whichever you prefer) all you would need is your sons confirmation number where the travel funds are being held and on the payment screen you should see a place to apply travel funds, luv vouchers, or gift cards you would then enter the information (conf# and his first/last name or if its a voucher enter the voucher number and security code) once you hit apply you can proceed with the payment for your ticket then add the companion as you usually do. -Blake
