@Iowagirl1 wrote: The check in system is not as represented. I fly biweekly on Southwest, and each time I set my alarm to check in precisely 24 hours before. I often get b30+. I find it hard to believe that the entire plane checked in within 2 minutes of the check in process opening. Well, when you check in you have A-List Peferred, A-List, and Early Bird purchasers in front of you. SW automatically gives them boarding spots at t+36 from flight time. That's potentially a lot of people who already have boarding posiions befoe you check in. Also, almost everyone nowadays tries to check in at t+24. So if you are 30 seconds or a minute late, there are other people that checked in before you You sid said you fly SW bi weekly. Why afren't you A-List?

@ACL -- you can't board a new flight with your missed flight's boarding pass. You should have gone to the podium at the gate as soon as you knew you were going to miss your flight and they would have given you a new boarding pass for your next flight then and there. Also - boarding passes take seconds to print, so you should not have missed your newer flight if you did not have your boarding pass in hand when you went to board. It's rare but I've seen it happen, people are in line to board and the scanner beeps when someone's ticket is scanned, indicating that they don't have an actual boarding pass but a security document, or there is another issue, and they have to go to the gate agent and get a boarding pass printed. --Jessica

Hi @DaveW. Customers who take advantage of our EarlyBird option are automatically assigned a boarding position 36 hours prior to their flight's scheduled departure time. We reserve the best boarding pass numbers available after our Business Select Customers' and Rapid Rewards A-List Members' boarding passes are assigned. Since the number of these types of Customers will vary on each flight, the boarding group number of Customers with the EarlyBird option will also vary. Therefore, EarlyBird Customers are not guaranteed to receive an "A" boarding pass.
We have not considered closing purchase after the A Group, and many Customers are happy to be in the B Group, especially since they can often still secure seats together. The reasons Customers purchase EarlyBird also vary. For example, some People do not want to wake up 24 hours prior to their 5:30 a.m. flight to secure a good boarding position.
Nevertheless, we regret if you were not happy with your boarding position, and your concerns have been taken to heart. As a peer-to-peer support forum, we aren't equipped to document your suggestion, but we encourage you to reach out via the options in the link below. Thank you!

@LindseyD , talk is cheap. If SWA truly is "humbly and deeply grateful," to military members, then they would stop using the military as advertising fodder. Since almost no military flies in uniform anymore, just stop advertising pre-boarding for military. Just stop. You don't owe it to us. But we don't like being taken advantage of.

Department of the Navy does not allow commercial travel in and routine service or working uniforms. This policy was put into place after a Navy diver was singled out during a hijacking. SWA has a policy that effectively excludes Sailors and Marines. it is embarrassing calling for “uniformed personnel” on official business for boarding only to be turned away because I’m not in a uniform. The term “uniformed personnel” includes the military, Public Health Service and National Oceanographic Atmospheric Administration folks both in and out of a uniform.

After speaking with a representative from Southwest, I have a definitive answer... yes each individual can view their boarding pass on their own device. Here is how: All of the passengers need to create a Rapid Rewards account on southwest.com First - log onto the southwest.com website from your laptop or desktop Second - click on: FLIGHT | HOTEL | CAR | VACATIONS Third - click on: manage reservations Forth - click on: Add Rapid Rewards number Fifth - enter flight confirmation number and passenger information Sixth - enter Rapid Rewards number (you can get their Rapid Rewards number by logging on and clicking: My Account) once you've done this for each person, they can go on the app and view their mobile boarding pass.

After you log in, within my preferences (personal), you'll find your known traveler number. If you can't log in, the pick the "need help checking in" option https://www.southwest.com/account/recovery

@dfwskier wrote: Two points here 1) If you check in via the SW app, then you can save your boarding pass to your photo album where it will remain til you delete it. Then you can print a screenshot of the pass. 2) You can get a flight receipt from the SW website by clicking on past trips. Only flights actually taken show up here. IMO #2 above is the only "sure" way of proving you took a flight. There are lots of times that I've checked in, gotten boarding passes, and then changed my mind and did not take the flights. So a boarding pass IS NOT proof that you took a flight. What do the receipts show, can you only get them for flights flown? That would be the best. Otherwise the same issue exists with email confirmations plus boarding passes - these are strong indicators but it would be possible to change flights after getting a boarding pass. Asking for boarding passes may be a legacy request that was applicable back in the old days.

The browser loading bar gets about 1/5 of the total and stops. On the ground before the flight took off I noticed that he page loaded using data but as soon as I switched to airplane mode and tried getting on the network had no success. One time out of repeatedly trying on multiple flights I did see the words for the menue such as movies, TV shows and so on but they were u detained and in a different font like only a fraction of the page loaded. No graphics or images.

@cap223 wrote: Yes the new update (on android) changed how boarding passes look and one of those changes is that the business select drink coupon is gone. Had a flight attendant ask me for mine and she wasn't aware that it no longer shows up. May be a problem in the future. Does a printed pass show it? It's in the app but you'd have to scroll a page or show the details where it would say "drink coupon: yes" or something like that. The previous version had a second page to scroll, I believe current version it would show up in the info about the boarding pass although I'm an iOS user so I'm not 100% how it will be displayed on Android devices. Do you still have the pass saved to look?

I’ve been a list / preferred for many years and have never seen this as a problem. The only time I get a B or C boarding pass is: -It’s a high traffic business route, and there are a LOT of frequent fliers -I book less than 24hrs before check in. -I change less than 24 hrs before check in. Ive been able to easily understand the boarding assignment just by flying a lot, surprised some people think there are widespread problems.

Not sure why the SWA person didn't suggest rather than just thank the one person that suggested calling. Go to My Account and then to Recent Activity. It will show all acitivity including cancelled flights, refunded miles, etc. along with your confirmation code. Ironically, it does NOT show travel fund credits. I agree that SWA does not make this particular process easy. There is no reason you should not automatically see all your travel fund credits on My Account when you log in. This is clearly a business decision hoping that a certain amount of travle funds will lapse. If they can show that much detail on my "recent activity", they can list all the travel funds available. I have been an A List Preferred customer as well as achieving Companion fare status for four years straight and that doesn't feel like the SWA philosophy that I get with everything else. Hello. I think that almost everyone would like to see Southwest have a place where travelers xould find all of their available travel funds. When you say " There is no reason you should not automatically see all your travel fund credits on My Account when you log in" there actually may be a reason. We have no idea how complicated it may be to buid a computer interface to capture all credits, a database to store them, and then revise the My Account webpage to provide access, As others have said, Southwest probably does not have the best IT department. I really don't think the company is intentionally encouraging the loss of travel funds, but I do not know that for a fact. IMO Southwest is an honarable company, and encouraging the loss of travel funds is not something an honorable company would do. Until the company provides the feature you seek, we should be responsible for our own actions, and simply save information we get from the company about unused travel funds. It really is that simple. You can't be serious. This would be an extremely easy thing for them to do. I'm sorry for being a jerk, but don't be naive. They don't want you to find your credits. It really is that simple. But you are right, we should be responsible because Southwest Airlines wants to screw us out of our credits so it's up to us to ensure they don't do so. If Southwest wanted to "screw you" out of your travel credits, it would do what United, Delta and American do. It would deduct $200 from travel funds EVERY TIME you tried to use travel funds from a changed or canceled flight. It would be quite simple. Those $180 travel funds? Poof, they're gone. Those $240 travel funds? They're worth $40. Instead SW lets every person who takes responsibility keep every penny of their travel funds. So what's keeping you from acting responsibly?
