What were the cancellation rules for the reservation? If they specified refund for the hotel part, you could always protest the charge to your credit card company.
The Southwest part, by Southwest rules would be a travel credit only he could use --- BUT -- he could use the funds to book a Wanna Get Away Plus flight, and then cancel that flight. That would allow him to transfer the credit to you.

So this is curious... Some of the flights I've been looking at on Google Flights don't match up with the SW website. In this example, I've put one-way from SEA to MCO on 8/12. I've set both sites to sort by departure time, and the only filter I applied to Google is "Southwest only". Google is only showing 6 flights that day when SW shows 19, and the only flight on Google that matches any of the flights on SW is the one from 5:30am-7:10pm. I've stared at these monitors for 15 minutes trying to figure out where I made a mistake on the search entries and I can't find anything. Is there a simple user error that I'm missing, or is there a problem with the data?

After 4 flights in 2 days which each had over 25 pre-boarders- I'm over it. And breaking news states that SW has increased the maximum charge for earlybird check-in and upgraded boarding ( up to $149!). That will surely increase the number of pre-boarders.
Also- SW policy regarding saving of seats ( they don't officially have one) has also been put out there on social media and now abused.
Between the 2 policies- the abuse has gotten out of control.
I used to like no assigned seating - but now I wish that Southwest had pre-assigned seating.

I don’t think I would fly if I was that way. Not sure how first few rows will help motion sickness as it’s not like a car. Window may not help either.

It also happened to me around three months ago & I wasn't aware, whether it would refund my money or not. So, I don't take any action for a refund. Is it true, to get a refund from the airline if the flight is delayed for 2 hours on a One-way flight? Am I eligible to get a refund now or I lost the opportunity?
If you still took the flight, you are not entitled to a refund. Sometimes the airline will offer a voucher of some sort for the inconvenience, but they're not required to do so for a 2 hour delay. Here's the latest info on the rule from the DOT as of April:
Under the rule, passengers are entitled to a refund for:
Canceled or significantly changed flights: Passengers will be entitled to a refund if their flight is canceled or significantly changed, and they do not accept alternative transportation or travel credits offered. For the first time, the rule defines “significant change.” Significant changes to a flight include departure or arrival times that are more than 3 hours domestically and 6 hours internationally; departures or arrivals from a different airport; increases in the number of connections; instances where passengers are downgraded to a lower class of service; or connections at different airports or flights on different planes that are less accessible or accommodating to a person with a disability.

we need our funds back as soon as possible or we will seek legal assistance.
That's definitely frustrating and I'm sorry that happened to you. Unfortunately nobody here can assist you with getting those funds returned because this is a customer based forum. Since you have already spoken with multiple SW representatives who say they can't assist, you might want to tackle the issue by filing a chargeback through your bank.

I've been waiting for years for Southwest to look into flying to Canada, as SWA is my preferred airline (almost all flights I've ever taken have been with them). Been across the country, been international now by air. First country ever traveled to outside the US was Canada by car, but mostly in the East. There are many different places to see in Canada. For entertainment/leisure, I would visit the following:
British Columbia: Vancouver
Alberta: Edmonton, Calgary Saskatchewan: Regina Manitoba: Winnipeg Ontario: Toronto, Ottawa, London, Sault Ste. Marie Quebec: Montreal, Quebec (City) Nova Scotia: Halifax There are several others I would drive to for CHL games (including Hamilton, Kamloops, Saskatoon, etc.) but I would fly into these other cities. I'm sure for other people, there are probably some rural and rustic places to visit in the prairies out west and maybe some coastal areas, but these are the places I would like to see flights into from Southwest.
One issue is that Southwest can only take bookings in USD while flying in Canada would require accepting CAD - it’s an IT issue, not any lack of interest.

Hmmm, not sure here, but there are only 15 spots in A1-A15. I guess it could be that the first 14 were alredy taken. If that were the case though why would the full charge go thru.
Since your flight is soon, I'd advise discussing this one with Southwest on social media. Click on one of the social media platofrms listed under "connect with us" below.

If I am booking for my party of 4, as long as each individual has registered for the promotion, and I have the rapid rewards numbers on the single reservation, each traveler qualifies for their own companion pass.
And we don't have to book 4 separate reservations?
Thanks
Correct.

This response helped so much in our planning! Does a family need to let staff know that they will be using this option prior to the start of boarding or does every flight announce family boarding automatically? Thank you!
Family boarding is announced during boarding for every flight.
