I fly into Midway several times a year, I would avoid a connection here in January and February just because of well "The Winter." In the Summer, I typically feel pretty comfortable connecting here.
My "home" airport is BWI and I can usually pivot and recover from any weather issues here because so many flights go thru here and bad weather doesn't typically linger.

Don’t let people see you have a fancy laptop, or accept the cost of a private room as the price of insurance.

Hmm... someone doesn't understand travel funds, and that canceling nonrefundable fares still gives you a year to use them. By his description, he'd have PLENTY of opportunity to use the travel funds. And yet, he hasn't figured that out? And what other airline would have a BETTER cancelation policy? None I know of. Sounds like another fish story to me.

@TheMiddleSeat wrote: Let me say this loud and clear... Southwest does NOT cancel flights because not enough seats are sold. This is one of the oldest, most incorrect rumors that pops up occasionally. You may be able to get a voucher for the inconvenience. Contact Customer Relations I would suggest writing and provide some brief details about the situation. --TheMiddleSeat Well... kinda. It's actually a bit more complicated than that. In IROPS situations Southwest's network planning staff will indeed choose the less booked flight vs the more full one when deciding what gets cut and what does not. The idea is to minimize the amount of passengers who are disrupted. Other considerations include where planes and crew are needed most following recovery. That said, this doesn't sound like the OPs situation (no IROPS).

Yes. Be sure to check in online or via the app as close to t-24 as possible (if you haven't purchased EarlyBird Check-In), then you can print your boarding pass at an airport kiosk. Another option would be to utilize a mobile boarding pass saved to your phone.

@spratrat,. So sorry this happened. An after midnight trip from IAH to HOU will not be fun. The only good thing is less traffic on the road so hopefully less worry about not having the children in car seats. The fare from one airport to the other was about $65 via Uber about three years ago (and about $1 per minute). Plus I always found that catching an Uber or Lyft from IAH was more complicated than I liked, so Hobby was always my airport of choice. I hope the trek goes well and the children are sleeping. My child never got sleepy on a plane or in a hired car, no matter how early or late I traveled, so I know you cannot count on that. My heart goes out to you — it was always hard for me to grasp just how big Houston is in land area. I agree with you that it doesn’t seem like the two airports should be counted as being in the same city.

FYI: It's been widely reported that Twitter and Facebook DM replies from Southwest are taking much longer than "usual" these days. For many it's taking a week or so to get a real response (there are auto-replies sent initially), and for some, they've not received any reply at all, even to follow-up messages. The chat function, when available, seems to be the best route at the moment.

If they can fill planes to and from a given city they will beat path to get gate space at the local airport. If they can't project a reasonable profit it just isn't going to happen🙁. I remember when SWA flew to Key West, but they scrapped that destination 5 or 6 years ago, just couldn't fill the planes

These would not be auto cancelled. Auto cancellations happens when there are obvious conflicts that make the completion of both flights on the same day impossible.

If you have the money to just go ahead and buy another flight at last minute prices then you can do whatever you want. It just depends when the next flight is. Some places only have one or two flights a day while others are more frequent. --TheMiddleSeat

It's based off of when you bought EB those who buy EB a month in advance should receive a better position than the person who bought it a week in advance. You would also be assigned a position after the A List customers. -Blake

A seat map would brake the webpage. A new reservations network is a waste of money for airlines in these hard times.

I’m guessing it took more than 20 seconds for you to compose that email. Now you’ve let what amounted to a 20 second moment of inconvenience in your life and probably more than tripled the effect. And made it a major sticking point for you. Why? Life is too short and precious as it is.

You asked: "But do peers of the industry really think the policy is written that in between every bite sip and chew the mask is to be replaced. Or is the policy that a reasonable amount of time to consume your just delivered snack is ok to not wear a mask but after a reasonable time it must be returned to its proper position." I have taken four flights on Southwest since you made your post on Saturday. (2 flights in each direction of a trip.) After reading your post, I paid close attention to the announcements the flight attendants made. On three of the four flights (all with different crews), the flight attendants used the phrase "replace your mask between sips and bites." Three of the four used that EXACT phrase. Not between "drinks and bites" or "gulps and chews." Three of them specifically said "replace your masks between sips and bites." It was obvious they were reading from a prepared script. I would guess that is the policy.

But, that's not a Southwest problem, that's a standard internet wi-fi connectivity problem with any wi-fi that does not "remember" you. --Jessica

Too bad we will not hear the employee's side of the story.
There are at lest 2 sides to every story.
If only the media believed in listening to both sides of the story. Whenever an incident on-board a flight makes the news, the media defames the passenger by referring to him or her as "unruly" and assumes that the flight attendants were in the right.
I'm all for hearing both sides of the story, but always giving the flight attendants the benefit of the doubt is dishonest.

Your inbound flight from fort Myers was delayed because of the weather in Orlando. The FAA had a ground stop and that means planes can't leave or take off. The planes you saw leaving were the ones already there so when the ground stop ended they boarded and left because your plane didn't get to leave yet it was affected by the ground stop. Had your plane come from somewhere like Atlanta it may have left on time then been diverted because of the ground stop. Your welcome to Contact Customer Relations and they can review your experience however because this was a weather delay there is not much they will be able to do because Southwest can't control the weather. -Blake

Sorry your flight was cancelled. Weather is rough around the country from storms here in Texas to the topical mess in the north east from Elsa. This causes planes and crews to be grounded and that results in cancellations. Trust me airlines don't want to cancel flights but sometimes they don't have a choice. Once travel is complete you can Contact Customer Relations and they can review your flight and look in to possible compensation. -Blake
