Agree with you Jexxica. If I have A22, I don;t particularly care if I get on at A20 or A30. I'm still going to get a good seat.
Agreed except not if I'm A16, there can be no confusion about who is the first of that boarding group.
Also I'm going for that exit row aisle then A16 is better than A17.
20's or more then often I actually just wait at the back of A30 and board the last of that group so I'm not crowded.

This is a simple misunderstanding of the Southwest boarding policy. You are not assigned seats. It is first come, first serve. A group boards first, B group boards second, C group boards third and last, and by that time, most aisle/window seats are taken. Now you know for the future. You could have gotten around this by purchasing early bird, which gives you a better boarding position (but even then it is not guaranteed, if many others also purchase early bird).

Both great ideas.
This is a huge lesson learned for me. I think I will definitely stay clear of the non-refundable bookings from now on.

On recent flights, I've seen the gate agents enforce the rules and do so with success!
Family Boarding - unless the child us under the age of seven, no go. And now, the rule is that for each child under the age of seven, ONE ADULT and only one adult boards with the child. No more aunt, uncle, brother, 20-something kids and grandparents all going on together.
Carry On Items - now you can have only one piece of luggage and one personal items. Anything separate counts and you either consolidate, throw away or check the items.
Item Count - no more sneaking on two pieces of luggage. One luggage item that meets the size requirements and one "personal item".
Thank you Southwest for following the rules that you wrote.

The credit belongs to the passenger, not the buyer of the ticket. To bypass those safeguards and create an account in someone else's name is a problem, as I see it.
If Southwest agrees with you , then so be it.

Regardless of what others tell you, Southwest is responsible for your safety and wellbeing on board. While you may choose to report the activity, you are not required to do so.
You need to file a written report with both Southwest and law enforcement. Use your destination as the agency to report the behavior.
Since you are attributing the behavior to drinking, Southwest is serving the drinks so they are accountable.

I received a $1021 charge for a hotel reservation from Southwest Hotels Concierge that was cancelled 20 minutes after it was booked. And now they're saying it was never cancelled. Has anyone else experienced this? I've submitted a case to the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3). If you've had the same experience please add your experience and comments and any information you can provide to the current case profile. Reference the Southwest Hotels Concierge / Rocket Travel / Agoda case on the https://www.ic3.gov/ website.
And beware of ever using Southwest Hotels Concierge or Auto rental links when booking flights. Apparently they are all 3rd party vendors that Southwest claims to have no affiliation with or control over how they conduct business.
Hello-
I'm a regular user of Southwest Hotels/Rocket Miles and have had no major issues with this service. SW Concierge is usually very efficient at resolving issues. It's possible your inquiry to SW Concierge was not articulated correctly to the rep which is why they couldn't initially help you. I would try contacting them again via the email address supplied in your original reservation.
Before emailing them again, I would first confirm whether the $1021 transaction in question still in "pending" or "authorization" status on your credit card statement. If it's still in pending/authorization status, I would give it a full 24 hours to see if it clears which would indicate the transaction was later voided. It's possible this could be the reason why the hotel is not "refunding" any money.
If the transaction is fully posted, in your email, I would document that you attempted to make a reservation at the specified hotel and received a confirmation number but then 20 minutes later received a notice of cancellation. I would supply them with screenshots or PDF's of the cancellation notice you received, reservation confirmation email, and your current credit card Account Activity that documents that your booking payment refund is still outstanding. That way, SW Hotels has record that you are due back your payment.
One side note: I did have one occurrence where I attempted to make a reservation through SW Hotels but the booking failed following payment authorization when the Booking.com engine was not able to communicate directly with the hotel's reservation database to record my booking. The amount of the booking was held as an authorization on my credit card statement for about 24 hours before it was released as the transaction was later voided. I ended up shopping and booking another hotel.
Hope this helps!

I frequently have issues with wifi and it is getting hard to determine if I will be able to work on my flights. It had been getting better the last couple of months and I also experienced issues connecting with my laptop and phone; I contact SW through twitter and they forwarded the issue to the appropriated IT people and got back to me asap; They did say there were issues going on with the log on and would be working on it; It wasn't resolved with that flight but was resolved on my next flight the following day and sw twitter did a good job of keeping me updated. Hopefully the improvements continue, but I also don't have confidence if it is available flight by flight; I always wonder what happens to those who pay for it, i would never have the confidence in their wifi to pay for it, fortunately I get it free with A preferred

There continues to be no valid reason to pay any way other than directly with Southwest.
You choose to move the transaction through many hands, therefore, the risk is much higher.

Hello, we fly from DEN to IND in April and we have a short layover with no plane change in MCI. My worry is that they won't put the carseat and stroller back on the plane for IND after our layover in MCI. We can't afford to lose the stroller or carseat. Thank you!!!
It will be sorted by the baggage handler and immediately placed back on the same plane, if it is even removed at all.
They will be looking for this as it is a no-plane change route.
This is by far the best case for a quick layover compared to a connection where you change planes.

In my experience the voucher was given to me at the point of pick up. Sometimes the agents have a lot going on did you ask the agent when you picked up the bag about the voucher? The BSO would have issued that voucher.
since you didn’t receive it at pick up I would send an email or call the reservations line and they can open a case and customer relations can take a look in to it.

Thank you Southwest for making my evening. WOW is all I can say. Who knows when my bag will be returned or what condition it will be in.
When is a good question, but there's no reason to think it will be mangled unless you saw it get run over by a ground vehicle. I hope you were able to get compensation, keep us posted.
I did see this once at DAL where a tight turn on the baggage cart let an item fall off and a few thousand people could see it from the concourse gate area. Eventually someone picked it up - at least that was a checked item, that's not quite on your level with a forced gate check but it does happen.

Even if you buy multiple tickets then you’ll forfeit the extras as “no show” when you get there and then scan the boarding pass for yourself that’s all you get - the additional seats will be marked no show and forfeit.
Potentially there will end up being empty seats on the plane, but you won’t be guaranteed to have them next to you.
*the last place I would sit on a plane is next to someone with three pets but I’m allergic, it may not bother some people or they might even enjoy it.

There is a reason that certain credit cards offer travel interruption protection and those travel interruption insurance policies still exist.
Every traveler should be aware of the benefits of their credit card (if ticket bought via that card) as well as other financial protections that they either need to buy or be at risk to cover.
Flights are cancelled or delayed all the time for many unforeseeable reasons. There is no recovery of dollars available, in my opinion.

I am not understanding how you were "humiliated"? They show you a damaged piece of luggage and give you the limits of their liability on the spot. You can file claims for billions of dollars in damages yet the contract you agreed to has a limit to the liability.
Anyone who travels needs to be aware that expensive luggage and expensive items inside the luggage are subject to damage. Therefore, have luggage that is cost-effective. As an alternative, see if your homeowner's insurance or any benefits on your credit card cover the luggage and contents that were damaged.

That's exactly the rules and thousands of people do this every day. It isn't entitlement.
@MizzT74 wrote:
And even though they have family boarding the real assurance would just be to purchase business class tickets. But thank you all for your feedback.
Business Select will be way overkill for that. Although you would be one of the first 15 positions the cost increase may be 3x the cost of WGA fares.
Consider upgraded boarding, if it is available, on the day of the flight but that's it. The system is designed that regular customers can buy WGA fares and have a very reasonable, if not quite certain chance of sitting with their children.
The only time it doesn't work is if the child is seven or older or if the passengers are late and miss the window for family boarding.

I am a lifelong fan of equity and common sense. Let me first say that I conduct myself within the realm of "reasonable expectations". For instance:
I don't go to a steakhouse and then ask for a vegan menu.
I don't go to a Kia dealership and look for a new Mercedes.
I don't go to Starbucks and look for a cheap cup of coffee.
I don't fly on Southwest and expect to choose my seat.
Today we are living in times where everyone wants the world to be reformatted around their view of what is right, regardless of what they have chosen. This thinking, and behavior, will only continue to the breaking point when a business has to raise prices to combat the constant defenses to their operating policies.
Southwest needs to continue with open seating and if anyone wants to "sit together" after the seats are mostly taken, they can exit the plane and receive a refund of their fare, then, choose another airline with assigned seats.
Problem solved.

Under the Air Carrier Access Act, you can self-declare as an individual with a disability and preboard. There is no proof, no medical exam, no committee, no documentation.
You can do back flips, acrobatics and gymnastics all the way to the gate, then self-declare, then preboard.
